Admiral Fallon reached this difficult decision entirely on his own." "I believe it was the right thing to do, even though I do not believe there are, in fact, significant differences between his views and administration policy," Gates said at the Pentagon. The Bush administration says its policy is to use diplomacy to resolve differences with Iran, particularly over Tehran's nuclear program, but it will not rule out military action. We live in an age of unbridled hubris. A runner-up in the presidential primaries wants to offer the front-runner the vice presidency...and a lame duck president with ten months left in office wants to launch a new war. Nothing emboldens a fraud more than failure.
When I read articles like this, I tend to believe the intended audience is not the U.S readers. These are written for the foreign press. We latch onto these, they are of no consequence. There is no other way to convey a message or thoughts, encourage debate and test world opinion. What the average Amercian thinks, D.C. does not care.
