Sorry for taking space here, but I have to correct myself to be completely accountable. I do not have a special thread for that so I will do it here. I made a mistake. My systems' PL so far this month: 9+2+4-6=9 pts. Another -6 from my favorite, but I did not take this trade as the other two systems were suggesting an opposite direction. I mentioned something to this effect a day or two before. It's a little discretionary modification that I may get rid of if I see that it does not work out this month. But this -6 is there for those who would trade only this system. My discretionary trades (5+6)*2=22 pts (forgot about the two factor for two contracts, but the number of points per contract is 11. In my system trading I use only one contract per system.
Backtesting from weds. Every night I go over the trades that were possible during the day and second guess myself. I put 9:00 on the hard right edge and advance one bar at a time. If I had traded every single cross....I would have made 37 points. The first two would have been losses. As written in "the rules". The trades over lunchtime would have lost me an additional 4 points, as only 2 of them made money. So if I traded 10-12 and 2-4.....I would have made a whopping 43 points times $50 per contract......$2150! So it pays to take lunchtime off for sure!
I tend to use candlestick signals and whenever the stochastic cross after an entry. Now remember, some days are great like this......and there are a lot of bad days to make up for it. The secret is knowing when to pick your battles.
of course you are right, yesterday's results are interesting but not proof of anything yet. exciting results though. inandlong recently outlined a similar system that he says he has traded with success for quite some time using the 5ema and 20ema cross. he says it works over the long run. cathy can you give a little detail on how you are using the stoch and candles to exit? thanks.
When I put the post up at night, I will pay attention to that question. It is always easier for me to show you rather than write it down.
