Catholicism is not Christianity

That's a pretty stupid comment. As stupid as someone saying that he confesses to being liberal but then contradicts and disagrees with the most important liberal principles. If one confesses being Christian and trying to follow Christian principles then there are certain "non-negotiables" most of which Catholic doctrine either denies or directly contradicts.

  4. Why is the threat of me not loving Him being in Hell and burning?
    - Who told you that?

    The Bible
    - The bible didn't teach you that, people did.

It was taken from the bible. I went to bible school.
    - No man, it was taken from religion so religion hurt you.. And now you don't have a relationship with Jesus. You contest the very thing that loves you.

    - and I too didn't believe in any Christianity because I saw so many hypocrite. so many liars, so many thieves, children being molested, priest raping and sodomizing children and you say that in your life.

    Umhum.

    - and you've allowed that to paint a picture of who Jesus is.

    - so you've got Christians that aren't living the life, you've got Catholics who aren't living the life, and now they are trying to tell you about their god and threaten you with hell.
Threatening you with hell doesn't make you come to heaven it makes you mad. If anybody's going to hell it the "christians" that are threatening you with it.

The rambling bigot went and reported a post where I suggested he needed to take his medication and I was banned for a couple of days..for being mean to a bigot.

But.. As he has me on ignore I can reply, having spent over 30 years volunteering in hospices I have of course read the gospels, and everything else. Protestants have a fantasy that Catholics are not allowed to read the gospels. There is some truth to it, stupid people were advised not to by priests who could not be bothered with their grasping at straws however intelligent people were instead encouraged. See what the CC knew about people long before the internet made the dim but don't know it so painfully obvious to all eh?

That said, most Catholic schools have a religious education class of some kind where an hour or two a week quite a lot of bible reading and analysis goes on. Even the also-ran apocryphal ones, so many I forget, 17? Were to some degree discussed. The Judas one was the most intersting, a lot of reveals there.

So there are three types of Christian, Catholic, Orthadox and Protestant. Theres probably an Orthadox version of Protestant also. There are always splitters.

Dunning Krugerism from a small-hill bigot but hey, he has no sense of shame and he pressed report so clearly he is a better person.

If they don't understand that Roman Catholics are Christians, but not all Christians are Roman Catholics....factually, only about 60% - 65% of Christians are Catholics...

For those that need to talk down to another religion while being a Christian, I just let them ramble because they have issues that I just do not have time to understand.

Here's an article about Catholic Pentecostalism, where it speaks of Catholics speaking in tongues and filled with the Holy Spirit......
Too long for me to bother copy and paste as most probably won't read it, being too long....
    The Pentecostalism Controversy
    https://www.catholicculture.org/culture/library/view.cfm?recnum=6587

So I have no idea why Catholics can't be Christian according to OP as they follow Christ according to them.
It's like saying "You are not christian because you don't attend my church."

However, there appears division within the Catholic church re pentecostalism, some saying it is demonic, shamanism.

  8. The title of the thread is:
    "Catholicism is not Christianity."

Catholicism is the name of a religion.

Of course, Catholics (the members- the persons) can be Christians - and I have never said otherwise.

Being a Christian is not about your self-label, it about you and your personal relationship with God through Jesus (the means God provided as the only way to salvation).

So accepting Jesus into your heart is about relationship and not religion.

The requirements to be a Christian are clear and anyone with a desire to read can read them in the New Testament - Gospel of John could be a place to start.

    ----------------------
From another thread-Do only humans have souls that go to heaven or hell, or does it apply to all forms of life? :

    There are the headings:
    1. Language has many limitations for expressing spiritual concepts.
    2. One needs a desire to understand to understand.
    3. Confusing self-labeling with actuality
    4. Jesus completed the Old Testament (Jews bible) by fulfilling the prophecies (which include dying on the cross). It is done. The New Testament is in effect.
    5. Salvation
    6. The spiritual realm is different than the material realm.
    7. The New testament has many English translations

    ----section 3 -----------------------
    3. Confusing self-labeling with actuality

Many people (and organizations/church power structures) may label themselves as Christians without being Christians.

There are 3 requirements to being a Christian:
    a. Believing that Jesus is Divine, descended and incarnated into flesh, died on the cross for our sins, rose from the dead and then re-ascended to heaven.
    b. Sincere deep heart felt repentance.
    c. Loving Jesus = learning and following Jesus's teachings (as best you can).

(For those who want to know more reading the 4 gospels and the Letter of James should help.)

The God Fearing Bible Thumpers have the Catholics on the Supreme Court to thank for, unfortunately, overturning Roe v Wade. And Serial Wife Cheater TrumptyDump for putting them in there in the first place.

    Politics Religion makes strange bedfellows.

I've said before there is no such thing as a christian. The main reason for that is because of the vagueness of the requirements. These are your requirements, but probably not the requirements of so many others who self-identify as christian. I'm using a small "c" because in my opinion, you are not honoring Christ (nor even the accomplishments of Jesus), and so, don't deserve the appellation.

    a. believing...

First of all, believing - faith - is a sin. It is near the core of the primary sin complex. Faith is in opposition to knowledge (faith and knowledge are opposites, antithetical, and unable to coexist). Christ is knowledge, all knowledge, total knowledge, and nothing but knowledge. As a believer, you know nothing. As a knower, you believe nothing. There is no way you can know that Christ died, for any length of time, for example. As soon as you enter the realm of believing, you can be led astray as if you had a ring in your nose tied to a string that is being pulled by an entity that you cannot see, which usually ends up being a small cadre of priests who made a declaration in a small, smoke filled back room. The blind leading the blind. Oh, and just because those priests wrote down, on parchment, or sheepskin, their declaration, does not make it more true.

    b. repentance...

For what? This too is vague. You can feel bad for a lot of reasons, none of which may be the main reason you find yourself in hell right now. If you deny that you are experiencing hell, right now, then you haven't sufficiently appraised the circumstances of your situation, and so, your brand of repentance will not yield the solution.

    c. as best you can...

    vague

    loving...

    vague

    following...

    vague

    learning...

    vague

    ADJECTIVE
    1. of uncertain, indefinite, or unclear character or meaning:
      "many patients suffer vague symptoms"
      synonyms:
      indistinct · indefinite · indeterminate · unclear · hazy · cloudy · fuzzy ·
      • thinking or communicating in an unfocused or imprecise way:
Vagueness is the darkness within which the mushrooms of sin thrive and flourish.
