    what a bunch of baloney.

here is an different opinion also pulled from thin air.

liberals are typically losers who want something for nothing or wish to be elected by something for nothings. Since they are not willing to work hard to make something of their lives under the current societal structure and they are jealous of those who worked hard an have something... they agitate for a society in which they get more handouts. Their first goal is to strip the laws and constitutions out of society and then use govt to heavily "tax" the winners and give the money away to the large group of mostly lazy something for nothings.

Even though socialism has been shown to leave a much lower standard of living for all in just about every society which tried it, liberals are so jealous they would accept a lower standard of living for the themselves if they can knock others down to their level.

Many of them are also too ignorant to realize that the wealthy love the ideas of income taxes and other taxes because it means few if any people will ever be able to make businesses from scratch which will be competitive with their larger business.

The side effect of not have new winners is a society which dies.

    Quote from OPTIONAL777:

... just an opinion, a ruling, and and interpretation of an existing law.

bingo.... I did not realize you did not know the definition of law.

    Definition of LAW

    1
a (1) : a binding custom or practice of a community : a rule of conduct or action prescribed or formally recognized as binding or enforced by a controlling authority (2) : the whole body of such customs, practices, or rules (3) : common law

  2. amen.
this serman from a guy who claims to be a christian who follows the teaching of a man named jesus who said "If you want to be perfect, go and sell all your possessions and give the money to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me."

i think when old jem gets to heaven expecting to check in to his mansion in the sky he might hear this.
"'I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me."

  3. do you realize that many of the regulations, laws we labor under (on your behaviour) were put in place by conservatives? no society would not exist w/o law. regulating behaviour.

Did jesus say that govt should take form the hard working and give to the lazy? (I am talking about those who are capable of supporting themselves but chose to suck of others.

Jesus's sermons seem to be about helping others and using your talents (parable of the talents) in a useful manner for God and others.

What did he say about tax collectors and those who act like they are righteous and make laws.

  6. i dont know jem but if i were you and believed the jesus story as you claim to i would be quaking in my boots instead of telling jesus what you think he really ment to say.

Jesus- Sell all you have, give the money from your sales to the poor, then you can follow me.
JEM- Right. Just a second, Im in a debate with this atheist online.
Jesus- ~sigh~ Sell all you have, give the money from your sales to the poor, then you can follow me.
JEM- Yeah yeah, just a minute. Ive GOT to show this atheist how he's wrong about you!
Jesus- ~double sigh~ Sell all you have, give the money from your sales to the poor, then you can follow me.
JEM- Get off my back already! Geez, cant you see Im doing God's work here?!?
Jesus-You're not listening to me. Sell all you have, give the money from your sales to the poor, then you can follow me.
JEM- What? Give up my computer? But this is how I do God's work!! GET OFF MY BACK!
Jesus- You're not listening. ALL you are doing is debating foolish words, NOT salvation!
JEM- O COMMON! There's NO WAY you literally meant to sell everything.
All the scholars know that! Jeez, how stupid!
Now get off my back Jesus.
    Jesus- ~walking away~
    ~sigh~

If thou wilt be perfect sell everything (I think you need to re read the most important part)--- and follow Jesus.

So how does a man get to heaven?

By understanding that nothing man can do merits heaven.

If you sold everything, you could get to heaven - if you followed Jesus.

If you sold nothing and followed Jesus you could get to heaven.

The tough part is following Jesus.

Only a clown thinks the point of the message is that you merit salvation by selling everything.

I believe Jesus teaches that knowing that God is faithful to his promises and acting on that belief is saving faith.

Its not the power of my faith.
Its not the power of my works.

Your salvation is between you and God. I seriously doubt govt works have anything to do with your salvation or mine.

Does God want me to help others. Yes he does.

Does he want us to give a large portion of our income to govt. I suspect he would rather have us help others directly.

What I do know is that the govt is not going to get me to heaven.
And although I go to church at a Catholic Church because of Jesus teachings about communion and discerning the body in Eucharist, I do not think a church will get me to heaven.

Acting on Gods word is what gets you to heaven.
If you do, you probably will wish to help others.
But, you do not need the govt to do it.

Finally, considering the murder of children and the wars paid for by govt.... only a big govt fool could think salvation and govt are tied together.

  9. and yet you twist those words to make it easier for you to comply. isnt it convienient when you allow yourself to decide what he ment to say. the words are pretty clear. do you think a supposedly all powerful all knowing god needs you to translate?

    its not an escape clause.

    is a fulfillment clause.

it would be very hard for anyone who really follows jesus to sit on an internet board and catalog their own good works.

    1. we know our works are insignificant.
    2. if we are doing works is because of God's spirit operating in us.
    3. bragging about works if we had any would be a joke.

so what you have is an incomplete understanding of faith.

    1. you trust Gods word and act on it.
    2. God starts working through you
    3. everyone is going to be in a different phase of their journey
    4. it is awfully hard to judge others and their salvation
    5. yes when Christians point to Christians and say as a group they are not very Christian... if said honestly, it may be a valid criticism and might take deep analysis of what is really going on.
    6. When atheists try and rip me and say it I am not acting Christian... I have to decide if they are right.

But, I am quite confident... any govt I have seen is not going to gain anyone salvation.
