Sorry Epic, in Stu's world there is no room for debate, none at all. There are no if's, could be, might be. It is settled, there is no Creator. Calls himself a man of science, but has a mind so closed any real scientist wouldn't have him in their company.
In my world there are always what ifs. I'm not willing to discount string theory (m-theory) suggesting that there might be multiple universes, each with different physical laws. I'm not willing to discount Tesla's ideas of being able to use the "ether" to travel through space. The guy sure was right about a ton of other stuff. So what if...?
I've also never believed that the existence of a God would preclude the existence of many other similar Gods, each with his own creation. Sure does make you wonder when you see all the cool different forms of galaxies.
So in this thread Pee Drinker is touting what the Catholic Church is saying about Republican policies. In another thread it's " how the catholic church turns off young people." In another thread it's "religion slowly dying in america. 32% now non religious." And then of course there must be at least a hundred threads started by Pee Drinker claiming "Crazy Christians" and probably nearly that many again about Catholic priest sex abuse. Is it just me or does Pee Drinker want to have his cake and eat it too?
Apparently you believe in The Big Man in the Sky so long as he tells politicians to overspend like you want them to.
It's beyond the normal non-believer's mindset, if someone doesn't believe in something, they normally don't waist their time in trying to persuade others or denounce, and why would they, as to them it's a moot point, it doesn't matter. But to someone who's been offended, has an axe to grind, who takes the message personally then there's cause to speak out. I don't know what happen in the past, but it's obvious.
Atheism is NOT an ideology. The absence of something is not something. Atheism is simply the result of intellectual honesty for anyone with some knowledge and a rational mind. And Jesus would be a liberal- socialist- Democrat were he around today, and would be horrified to see how the party of greed, intolerance and militarism has tried to call themselves the true Christians. How they have become selfish and materialistic and favor wealth over concern for the poor. Abortion and homosexuality are the last things he would concern himself about. And once shown that modern science shows homosexuality is the way "God" made them, he would welcome them into the flock without criticism. Because Jesus was/is understanding. Just the opposite of what the republican right is today.
You've defined what atheism is. It is the absence of a belief in a Creator. That is an ideology, an idea, a thought that you believe in. What is so friggin difficult about that? You act as if you believe in something your entire world will collapse.
if god is more powerful than this satan character and still lets satan cause problems a thinking person would have to come to the conclusion that god thinks satan is doing what he wants done. is satan gods helper? "God will intervene some day". when he wakes up from his nap?
