  1. I hope so too Brass. It bothers me. Everyday this goes on. It bothers me.

I hope, for once, I am just a nervous Nelly.

  2. Well, yeah, other former Catholics I know say the same:D

I admire all those who break away, especially from this particular brand.

  3. The administration was clearly trying to poke its finger in the eye of the Catholic Church here, but this goes way beyond a religious issue. Why is it the federal government's business what kind of health coverage an employer offers? If they have the freedom to not offer health coverage at all, where does the government get the authority to dictate what they must offer if they do choose to offer it? How is that helping employees?

The infuriating thing about all this is that we know Obama would never have forced a policy on muslims that offended their religious principles.

In addition to this showing how Obamacare is big brother care... there is one more historical point to make.

Catholic Schools and Catholic Churches receive a great deal of private financing. Catholic Schools and Catholic Hospitals were the institutions which took care of many of the city needs before the govt stepped in.

They still are one of the leading competitors in the the govt services area. This is also about big govt knocking out the competition to create even more reliance on big govt.

This is is big brother morphing into Darth Vader.

Admit it, RCG. After reading jem's "understated" post, you can't help but feel a bit better. For history has shown repeatedly that when jem comes onboard, you find yourself on the wrong ship. :D

  7. You are always diplomatic jem. I enjoy your nuanced writing. Yes, Catholics are very big in the ghetto, and it might even reveal an unconscious bias towards them. Which plays into my point. Catholicism is a cult, make no mistake. But they are benevolent and mainstream.

If you have talent, and join them, they will find you a wife, put you thru school, make sure you get a good job, etc. In other words, Catholics are the epitome of socialism. As long as you do it their way, and pay your tithes, no worries.

That is the reason this church is the richest on the planet, even after the Crusades ended.

I'm not sure I understand that. I couldn't quite get past the "Jem is like Obama" part. My head still hurts.

  10. jem makes statements that make sense after you get the motive down.

Obama is saying that everyone in the plan should get access to everything there is to offer medically, everywhere.

    I get that.

But if you go to a hospital that has statues of it's patron Saints prominently displayed, religion might be a factor. The consumer has choices, if they want the pill, Planned Parenthood is the solution. Not a Catholic hospital.

Jem believes that minorities are victims of systemic racism. But at the same time, we have to make of something we in Allied Health face daily.

Make sure that the cure is not worse than the disease.
