I could never get a truther to answer this question for me - maybe you guys can help: if there's a conspiracy that blew up the buildings, that was able to smuggle all that explosives in, that not one of the many many people who must have been in on it spoke up - why the hell are there so many trails that can only be the result of utter incompetency? Why not just use easy to get industrial explosive rather than exotic military grade thermite that's easy to detect, difficult to acquire, and necessarily cataloged somewhere?

First - take the Pearl Harbor off the list - the allegation that FDR purposely let it happen is another one of the nut-so conspiracy story that no serious historian entertain. But then, none of those conspiracies are on the grand scale of this one - with so many people with so many diverse interest need to be in on it. I assume the point of the conspiracy is that there's someone behind it. The problem is that EVERYONE involved has to stay silent for it to work. If that in fact was the case, getting the Iraq war or whatever is a pretty small prize. Someone with that kind of organization skills rightfully *should* run the world.

Sol-gel nanothermites, are often called energetic nanocomposites, metastable intermolecular composites (MICs) or superthermite (COEM 2004, Son et al 2007), and silica is often used to create the porous, structural framework (Clapsaddle et al 2004, Zhao et al 2004). Nano-thermites have also been made with RDX (Pivkina et al 2004), and with thermoplastic elastomers (Diaz et al 2003). But it is important to remember that, despite the name, nano-thermites pack a much bigger punch than typical thermite materials.
