IQ is necessary but not sufficient for success in many fields. I've never met someone who seems anywhere near the lower 50th percentile in IQ in i-banking, consulting, VC, or any other buy side job. Met plenty of jerks and unpleasant people, but they're all certainly above average in IQ. On the other hand, plenty of low IQ, high EQ people see success in sales, politics, sometimes even leadership intense jobs like the military.
But that's the tricky part, since one might not know, (he or she), that personal number/score & even the behavior and language is some sort of predictor, it's by far not enough. The whole massage of your is true, right to the spot, because social skills are important as well. Networking/building relationships etc. Tho it's a matter of the specific field/profession. Chose this game, since different than art, you need almost zero connections, to make in it. (but again, socializing, even here, gives some bonuses) Being calm is a ,,super power'', also add on the top the mastery for the skills like listening, and such person could make it far. In pre-build system only. Wouldn't come with his own break trough ideas tho.
It might be a super power, but you can train yourself to stay calm. Learn to breathe properly and focus on breathing. It will calm you down and put you into a relaxed state. It draws you back into to the present, away from worries about the future or mistakes of the past which induce a stress response. Need to also have the confidence in yourself that you will be able to handle the task at hand. Then why wouldn't you be calm?
I don't think your IQ is below average, but nonetheless don't sweat it, i-banking jobs suck. Nothing like 80 hour weeks for a couple years to suck the life right out of you.
Well I'm gonna chalk that up as more anecdotal evidence against IQ tests, but I suppose it also makes my earlier statement somewhat meaningless since it's obviously beyond my ability to guess the results of an IQ test based on a series of conversations with someone. I guess I always equate intellectual curiosity with intelligence, but that's probably not something measured or measurable on an IQ test so all the more reason not to put much stock in them.
And persistence, so don't feel bad for me. Always enjoyed your posts. Showed a lot of wisdoms. Regards,
One test is not enough, since it could have been a poorly done. (by those who created that test, beside, by that age, students lack motivation to do those tests) Hardcore education can increase it by 10 points, and personal motivation during the test, might add another 10-15 points. Those are hell of difference in the end. Make at least 10 to be sure. Visualization related as well. (might find a pleasant surprise of being superior in some areas) p.s Sig's posts truly stands out. Absolutely & for the most people, that's the path. Very few, will be like that ,,naturally'', without hidden diagnosis of things like autism/Aspergen Syndrome. If one has the confidence, thus by default he will be calm, when the time will come. And to use this chance of us chatting,(wanted to write it for some time), - those predictions that you made on forum, tops end bottoms, etc (you know, 3300), the great ones makes jokes about predictions, but - it also shows the determination of the character & resilience when it comes to failure. So, kudos to you. timestamped
