  1. These were the recent daily ranges in pips, not the 20 day ATR. As you can see there was a bit of a spike in vol yesterday.

  2. i purchased Amibroker.... i've let go of the frustration with myself for all my embarrassing mistakes this past week.. makes ya feel stupid..

in interactive brokers.. i opened a position in one account, and closed it in another...

i put on a spx fly that expired the next day when my intention was for next week.. couldn't close it because of pattern day trade trigger.. should have just put a put fly to offset the transaction .. that cost me 350 bucks.. then all kinds of sloppy Currency trades... i'm not going to trade currency or anything else i'm completely unfamiliar with..

  3. Does Amibroker capture option chains for multiple instruments?

I'm looking for a way to get and save that data for later use. Hoadley only gets one instrument at a time, and that takes forever.

  4. funny i was looking into this.. IQfeed provides options data.. i don't know to what level.. but i was going to save the options data.. i was looking at saving options data locally through the feed.. you have to know the symbology for iqfeed.. but it looks like i would say no.. i'm sure there are ways to do it though..

  6. IQFeed has a great reputation, but I was looking for an El Cheapo solution. I'm saving the higher priced toys for when I start to trade size and can justify the cost.

  7. pricey toys? haha.. its an investment.. maybe a good one.. i pay 80 something bucks just for internet.. i'm not getting the feed right away.. thats pointless.. i need to learn how to use amibroker well first.. i can use IB data for a while...

  8. Everyone uses that 'you got to spend money to make money' line. I say if you are a small businessman, which I am, keep your overheads low.

I have 2 Internet connections which combined cost me $110 a month. I can justify that because no connection = deep doo doo, like last week when my primary went down out of the blue.

I'll happily pay $50 a month for data. Have you looked at what IQFeed costs? I did when I was trading futures, with the basic fee plus exchange fees for a couple of exchanges, it was north of $200 a month. They have a pricing calculator on the site, check that out.

I bookmarked this site. Since having EOD data is good enough to do analysis and decide on trades, take a look and see if Amibroker can pull that data in. If it does I'll spring for the package.

  9. I'm still a rookie at options, but I've paid my dues in directional trading and know my way around that.

You need to have a very clear view of trade and risk management. Below is a link to a post of mine on another forum. It is a simple example of the calculations you need to familiarise yourself with if you are going to trade anything directionally. For a start it will help you decide on what time frame you can trade with the capital you have.

Read also the post immediately below, the guy trades a private fund.
