Career in Trading

Discussion in 'Professional Trading' started by misterderiv, Mar 31, 2004.

  1. I've been offered a position at Prop company in Chicago. They offer a decent salary, but most money is made via commissions.

I've been also offered a position in portfolio management. Which has about a 10% higher base salary, but not too much room for added bonus.

I am interested in both, and I believe I've the skills and desire to do both.

    What is your opinion?

    Thanks.

You say the first job is with a prop firm. Most prop firms don't give you a salary and THEY make commissions off of YOU. What you get is professional leverage [OPM] to trade.

Can you elaborate more on the first posn. Maybe you should post in the Prop trading area.

  3. I know most prop firms do not, but this one does. It recruits talent and pays them to become their traders. (for example, like New York First Securities).

    Thanks
