Career advice

  1. Hi all,

Been reading these boards with some interest for over a year now. It seems to me this is a good place to ask for some career advice.

My story: low thirties, PhD, started working as a quant a few years ago. I've developed a successful (at least that's what the backtesting says) medium-term automated trading system. I'm pretty confident I can make something work for shorter time frames.

Since I don't like working for a boss, plus the fact that I think I could earn a lot more with my skills (now 75kEUR/y), I'd like to explore my options.

Things that are running through my head right now are:
    - Building an ATS or grey box system and start with my own money. Max 25k available for this, which is not a lot considering the risk/return ratios of my type of systems.
    - Developing and selling systems. Would love to do this. How would one go about starting something like this?

    Any suggestions?
