  2. 27" come in 1920x1200, 1920x1080, and 2560x1440. Bigger than 27" right now is probably only 30" @ 2560x1600. (There used to be 28", that were 1920x1200...not sure if still available.)

If you go "bigger than 27" you need to be sure your video cards will support up to 2560x1600... and that will probably be in DP. Some will do that res in dual-link DVI, however. In addition, the new "4K" monitors require a different video card to accommodate the higher native resolution.

NVS 295/300 will do 2560x1600 in DP. (The 295 has DP connectors. If you use DVI from your monitor, you'll need a DVI-DP adapter... and that has a limitation of 1920x1200.)

Let's say you've decided on the NVS 300 video card. A good choice. For monitors, get ones with DP and get the DMS-59 cable with DP connectors and you're good to go. BTW... DVI is on the way out. Being supplanted by HDMI and DP, but so many peripherals have DVI they will be around a long time.)

(You could also go with NVS 295 cards... they have DP ports instead of DMS-59... and you wouldn't have to mess with the DMS-59/DP cable on the NVS 300. Most NVS 300 cards are sold with either/both DMS-59 VGA/DVI cable, but not DP. You end up having to buy that separately. I use NVS 295s..... 3x 24" + 1x 27". The 3, 24" I run at 1200x1600 and the 27" @ 2560x1440.)

You can get any brand/model of 27", any resolution... cheap ones, workstation ones, etc., so long as they have DP.

Good choices, though not the cheapest are ones by Dell and HP. Some come in 1920x1080, 1920x1200, and 2560x1440. I've had Dells before, currently have HP and Planar. All are very good. The Dells and HPs with good panels can sometimes be found on sale for about $260 in the 24" size.... don't know for sure about 27", but suspect around $600 or more.

  3. The NVS 295/300 cards came out before HDMI. While this HDMI DMS-59 cable might work, you likely won't know for sure until you try it. Would be great if it did work and solve problems like yours.

It's probably worth taking a guess and giving it a try, don't you think? If it does work, ET'ers would like to have that info.

  4. Should work... so long as he sticks to 1920x1200 res max monitors. New model 27"ers are 2560x1440... and that will require DP.

He said one of his monitors doesn't have HDMI... So long as it has DVI, he could just use a DVI-DVI cable on the DMS-59 connection.

He could get the NVS 300 with DMS-59/DVI and run with these cables. If he ever wanted to go to higher res DP, all he'd have to go is get DMS-59/DP cables.... wouldn't have to replace the video card for up to 2560x1600.

BTW... before buying these cables from Newegg, suggest checking with Monoprice.com. They have this cable in 6', for about $4.00 each.

This is his most economical and future-proof solution for what he has. Connect 3 monitors via HDMI-DVI cable to NVS 300 DMS-59/DVI... presuming, of course, they work like we think they should. In any event, should try this first. Then, connect the other monitor with DVI-DVI cable.

is there any card that supports this new resolution i.e. 2560 X 1440 AND which has HDMI ?

All 3 monitors have HDMI and VGA
    1 has DVI and VGA.

  6. I don't think there is.... not in the workstation arena for multiple monitors. I don't know if there are any even in the consumer/gamer arena. The "old" HDMI was for up to 1920x1080. The new HDMI is for higher res but not every peripheral has the new.

If you want to keep the monitors you have, this is what you should try first... should work, but not guaranteed.

  8. Logically, could work. But then you have heat, fans, noise... maybe OK, maybe not.

If you have a choice between "DVI-DP adapter" and "DVI-DP cable", go with the cable. Monoprice.com sells those, too.

VisionTek Products AMD Radeon 7750 Dual HDMI 1 GB DDR3 PCI Express Graphics Card 900574

    Will this solve my problem?

My monitors can support up to 1920 X 1080 Pixels only.

I can connect 2 of my brand new monitors using HDMI without any adapters.
I can connect a third monitor using a HDMI adapter to DP.

One card can support up to 3 monitors.

In the future, I can add a second card to add 3 more monitors.

    Will this work ?
