card counting and scalping

  1. Anybody know what card counting system would be better to play against a multi deck shoe? The red seven count, KO, or hi-lo? Hi-lo requires more brain work and math. But if it is the most accurate count, then it would be worth it. Any online statistics on these different systems. Or has anybody used these than knows?

  2. Hi-Lo is perhaps the easiest card counting system to learn and play in real-time, but it is good enough to beat the casino in the right game. These days, beating the multi-deck game is tough! IMO, I think it's a much tougher game then trading profitably.

The more complex systems, like the one Ken Uston played, where he assigned different values to each card and counted aces separately using his feet only provided a slightly bigger edge, but that system requires more time to master obviously. As I mentioned in a previous post, you can't make many mistakes or you will eliminate the small edge that card counting provides.

More importantly is the deck/shoe penetration before the shuffle. In a multi-deck game, the edge is gained towards the end of the shoe. If the penetration is poor, meaning the dealer shuffles with 2 or more decks left in a 6/8 deck shoe, that is probably an unbeatable game. Also, good money management, proper betting given your bankroll, increasing your betsize according to the count, and the game rules, such as doubling down on any two cards, doubling after splitting, surrender, 3 to 2 Blackjack payout, etc. are all important.

I suggest you move on to more productive areas of research. In the end, after you have wasted hundreds of hours in smokey casino play, you will find that expert card counting earns far less than the minimum wage. The casino industry caters to loosers, and it is not in their interest to allow winning players to play. The deck is quite literally stacked against you.

Consider taking up Poker instead. Thousands upon thousands upon thousands upon thousands of amateurs are flocking to popular variants of Poker. They have read all of the classic strategy texts, and are sitting there pouring their dollars into limit and no-limit games near you right now. And as an added bonus, poker rooms cater to winners.

Its almost as good as trading.

    Almost.

  4. Hi-Lo requires more mental exercise to get the true count with a multi deck game. I was thinking of maybe the "red seven count". I really don't see how "red seven count" can give true count without the additional division with let over decks, without keeping track on the side of additional cards. I guess I would have to use my toes to keep track of the Aces and fives. Just like Uston. lol. Lots of brain work.

I got the early beta release of the new TI scanner and it has a function called the Odds Maker. I think based on what I read in the instructions it is designed to do just what is being discussed. Counting cards so to speak but in stock trading terms. The trade I tried today worked out well. Had BEAS short right at 13.52
This is fresh out of the oven so to speak and I just started messing with it but reading this thread this looks pretty interesting. I attached a pic of my screen with the OM at the bottom.

CNTR PRTY data? I tried to look it up on google just how you spelled it but came up with nothing. Do you know of a website that explains what CNTR PRTY is? I never heard of it. Thank you. :)
