What Will Mueller Do? The Answer Might Lie in a By-the-Book Past The special counsel, Robert S. Mueller III, has approached law enforcement consistently for decades: leading aggressive investigations marked by adherence to precedent and higher office. https://www.nytimes.com/2018/08/25/us/politics/robert-mueller-russia-investigation.html
Elaine Kamarck: “Forget the Russians, the adult film stars, the Playboy bunnies, and the illegal payoffs covering up sexual misconduct. Forget the hotels full of foreigners enriching the president. And forget the convictions of his former campaign manager and his personal lawyer who may in the near future implicate the president himself in their wrongdoings.” “The clearest potential violation of the law so far has been around a much less sexy issue—the issue that got President Richard Nixon in the end—obstruction of justice. In an exhaustively documented, 167-page 2nd edition of their report, Presidential Obstruction of Justice: The Case of Donald J. Trump, Barry H. Berke, Noah Bookbinder and Norman L. Eisen lay out the historical and legal bases for the concept and the charge.” “For those who think obstruction of justice was something made up by the Democrats to get at President Trump, have a look at the Declaration of Independence. It begins with a long list of grievances against King George. Eighth in the list is the following: ‘He has obstructed the Administration of Justice by refusing his Assent to Laws for establishing Judiciary Powers.'”
Sounds like the corrupt leaders of the FBI that are “investigating” Trump still have not found anything to hang their hat on. Part of the intent of the US Consitution and law and rules that were based on the principles in the Constitution, was to address illegal search and seizures, the presumption of innocence, and attorney-client privilege. Basically, Mueller finds charges on people that have been associated with Trump in an attempt to get them to cooperate by saying something about Trump, whether true or not, that might save their skin. Remember, the Bush family has an interest in seeing Trump taken down because of Trump defeating Jeb under acrimonious conditions during the 2016 primaries. We have already seen a few FBI agents fired for misconduct. Mueller has continued to be involved in the Trump investigation in spite of conflict of interest, other FBI leadership has also allowed Mueller to remain an investigator in spite the conflict of interest. Mueller has also apparently been involved in being loose with immunities that resulted in little, if any, indictments so far concerning those associated with Hillary. This seems to have the effect of obstructing an impartial investigation of Hillary and her associates. It may be appropiate for a court to overturn these immunities given the prevailing conditions under which they were obtained. It would be interesting to review Mueller’s “productivity” by year and by case type as well as conviction rate since he was appointed by Bush. Did Mueller ever lead an FBI investigation that were contrary to the direct or indirect interests of the Bush family? Mueller appears to be one of the key protector’s of the swamp. Until he and other corrupt FBI leadership is ousted, our justice department will remain disfunctional to US interests by allowing corrupt establishment politicians who toe the line to continue their “work” unobstructed. I remember the Radical Left being extremely critical of Bush, calling him the most corrupt President ever. Whatever happened to that chorus?
You don't have a stronger retort than that? There are two additional things that reduce the credibility of the FBI. Leaks of ongoing investigations to the media ala "Leaking James Comey", although recently things have improved and the consistent timing of announcements of investigation progress after Trump records another win such as a peace treaty initiative or an apparent trade deal. In addition, there has apparently been a combining of the Manafort conviction and Cohen guilty plea events. These actions raise concerns that politics is playing heavily to the actions of FBI's leadership. Politics and bias have no part in our justice system and should be dealt with severely. Is FBI's leadership attempting to illegally influence political outcomes such as the 2018 Midterms? There appears to be sufficient probable cause, based on acknowledged FBI agent misconduct as well as ongoing practices to launch an investigation into Mueller and other FBI leadership. Law enforcement is not above the law. I know of two prominent, although retired, FBI agents through my poker playing. One of these agents I have a rapport with. These agents are fairly secretive and have yet to talk about their work, even from the distant past. There have been other instances where I have seen FBI professionalism, in both work related issues and non-work related issues. The conduct we have seen out of FBI leadership is not anywhere near what one would call professional. Mueller is more political creature than an independent investigator and should be treated as such.
I don't respond to conspiracy theories, provide evidence for this 'FBI corruption' first. Leaking is not corruption, neither are investigations. Get better tripe.
Another weak retort. What is certainly real is the strong US Economy and all time record high stock prices. Hopefully it will be enough that the Conservatives retain the House in the Midterms.
Yea, forget the treason, forget the deficits, forget the drama - let's just give the moron credit for not blowing up what he inherited.
What treason? Are deficits a new thing? What is a new thing is we finally have someone who has the balls to negotiate a fair trade treaty. If the (foreign centric?) US media and our trading partners want to squeal a bit, fine. I'll take the drama for a fair trade agreement. As discussed before, Obama needed lots of Government help for his modest recovery stats. Trump has no such help, in fact he is hindered by some extent by less liquidity and higher interest rates. Accept the fact that successful businessmen make better Presidents than career politicians because businessmen know how our economic system actually works and what motivates people to participate in it.
