Capitalism vs Socialism

  1. well, I don't know about you, but my moral upbringing, and my adherence to the Ten Commandmends ends when I can't feed my family, and then, if you got it, and I need it, and I can steal it, that's what's going to happen.

Thou shalt not steal means, you shouldn't steal from me

It doesn't mean I shouldn't do whatever it takes to feed my family

we can do this the peaceful way with a few socialist programs

or we can do it my way

and if we do it my way, there's going to be wealth redistribution whether you like it or not

it's all just math man, more of us and less of you can't be good for the game

Milton Bradley figured this out, that's why they don't give you big baseball bats to smash all the hotels when there is no other way to win, they just politely congratulate the winner and divide the bank up once again between the four players and it's a new friendly game

  3. Republicans won't pass a jobs bill huh? Sounds like somebody watches the news more than actually learning economics. Government cannot create jobs without destroying the sector. Amtrack and USPS are doing such a great job... If government regulations were taken off the entrepreneurs, more jobs would be created. For every employee hired, you have to pay the other 15% of their social security taxes(what a motivation to hire more people and expand your business!) Also, what is Social Security? It is NOT a savings account!!!!!!!!!!!! It's a government IOU check that the Federal Reserve pays for even though we do not have the money. Hello 17 trillion dollars in national debt! I think every taxpayer owes around 140K now to pay off the debt. How can big government get us out of this? That's all I want to know Liberals.. Tell me.

  4. I read an Economics book "End This Depression Now" by Paul Krugman. But I also watch the news on msnbc to get the other side. I think it's important to be well rounded.

All other economic systems the history knows rely on accumulation to size distribution. "Socialism" wants to put the cart in front of the horse: distribution to size accumulation. This can't theoretically work, at least with humans, and practice confirmed it repeatedly.

It's like with the "perpetuum mobile", there are always dreamers and mentally disturbed who try to build it.

  6. I just about had it a few times, I mean, I was that close. Friction, that was always my greatest enemy. Oh sure, it's good for pleasure, but really lousy for perpetual motion.

Same with Keynesian economics. On it's premise it's highly sensical and would work if actually followed..... in good times build reserves and in bad times spend to stimulate the economy.

Of course actually operating Keynesian monetary policy "by the book" is 100% impossible because of human nature and our political realities.

I will bet my life that 100 times out of 100, a politician will take the easy way out actually overspend in good times incurring huge deficits, and then run up the deficits even more in bad times.

It simply cannot work given the human element.

One day when robots rule the world, Keynes will rule economies and work perfectly, but until then, it's just an impossible to implement theory.

  8. I think in the end, he started writing papers why his theory would never work eternally, and developed a new disdain for those who blindly accepted it.

maybe plyka should go to the Heritage Foundation site and read up on the index. Then he might be able to explain why the most capitalist country, the USA, is ranked tenth, below far most socialist countries. :D

Excellent Comments! more people have starved out of famines and shortages in Socialism than in any other system. Socialism breeds or rather enforces deprivations of even basic of the basic human needs. Go to Cuba and North Korea and find out and come back depressed.

Any success stories in Socialism? may be Scandinavian countries but then US took the burden of their defense budgets and they were able to divert the attention and funds to social needs. These countries also have the culture of honor and rule following so some degrees of partial success were achieved. Also the populations in these countries is very very thin in comparison to resources available and hence for the time being Social programs were doing fine without throwing budgets into big reds. Venezuela is one example where due to massive energy resources Socialist programs are being able to be implemented but in a very very inefficient and corrupt manners. Libya was another example of a country where huge oil resources were funding socialist economy.

Any heavy or even medium flavored Socialism is not practical, Period!
