comments from gordon brown about protectionism do not make sense in a capitalist society.

capitalism is the exploitation of other people to maximise personal wealth. the fundamental action is protectionism. this does not make sense in a capitalist society.

    what do you think.

  2. At this particular point in time, politicians (esp. The Gord) have the same incentive issues as bank traders. They don't care about the long-term consequences of their actions. They just wanna get re-elected and not have the world blow up on their watch. Hence protectionism.

  3. But the big boy capitalists are also globalists.
So they will become protectionists WHEN MARS ATTACKS!

  4. I lol'd.

So it was Brownie boy that slipped "buy American" into the stimulus only to quickly be rejected such 'genius' prospects? The only thing our politicians are worried about is foreign relations...hence them not easing up on the trade agreements.

I won't take a stance on either side, but maybe some of you have an opinion on the US economy without some of the unreasonable trade agreements we have with other nations.
