Most email these days is actually encrypted(1). But, yeah... I don't blame you. I'd expect capital one to at least slap a web-based facade on-top of their email based system to give you the warm and fuzzies.

Yup outsourcing the back office to some oversea countries that you don't even visit on your vacation has gotta be the biggest security risk ever. Think about it. If you don't even trust them enough to go to these places in person, why should you trust them with your most private information that you have set up with all those security measures to protect? But somehow nobody gives a shit. LOL

  3. If enough people raise issue with this, maybe operations will come back to America.

  4. Outsourcing of offices overseas not so good at all, that is why I mentioned Mid-sized Banks. For example, years ago Enterprise Bank and Trust bought out my local bank. At first I was concerned, knowing nothing about them. However, I soon noticed an even increased level of professionalism and competency. They have no back office support overseas, even when I have called their national number always someone in the US talking to me, probably from their St. Louis main area. Not sure if they are in your area, however they are but one example of a solid, old fashioned bank heavily intertwined with local communities via business loans, mortgages, etc. They have even reversed any wire fees for me that were auto charged on their end. Look around your own areas and do some research, those of you who have bank problems. You can probably find somebody that treats you with dignity and trust, like a valued customer, such as was more common decades ago!

You might be able to interact with them via this x.com post (or the main https://x.com/AskCapitalOne link) because some of the Capital One responses have links to send them a private message.

  8. I personally would be wary of much of any advice from AI! I suggest instead reading this article on De-banking, 4 of those you listed are mentioned as offenders and are HUGE banks, and I have personally heard stories about US Bank as well! Again, find a MID-SIZED Bank or smaller that has deeper, more personal roots in your community, and which has few or even zero De-banking complaints against it. It is worth the time and effort, to avoid much more time and effort and aggravation later on!

According to Democrats, large banks are the source of the problem. Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) said Wednesday that her staff had identified thousands of debanking-related complaints over the past three years, more than half of which were lodged against four major banks — Bank of America, JPMorgan, Wells Fargo and Citibank.

  9. Non-US Citizen and never been a Resident either, banking for >20 years in the safest place in the world to bank (USA).

I never wired to my Broker (IBKR) I always felt it's better to pull from the broker than to wire into. Never had an issue.

And since a couple of years I even have 'request for payment' with my trusted Bank (again, initiated from my IBKR acct, never from the bank), so the funds go thru immediately.

The only notice I get is when withdrawing a large sum, I get an offer from Chase to open a brokerage acct. with them, which is futile as they don't cater to NRA's.

So they can email your documents overseas?
At least you save one step that way I guess.
