You are not getting my point. Capital One is asking me to prove myself after being with them for 10 years. Documents were submitted when opening the account. Money was being wired from one American bank to another. Then why prove anything now? Can’t they verify on the backend by contacting my broker? Capital One sucks! Needless to say, I am getting the hell away from them as soon as possible. Hope others see this too. If you are not able to get to an American customer service representative after requesting for one, that bank is crap. Don’t bank there. It’s like that with Capital One Bank. I personally think overseas employees are just harassing Americans by making life harder.
dude, go see the local branch banker to sort this out. if you don't take your own money seriously, why should they? then shut the accounts and go somewhere else.
Now, why didn’t that occur to me? Because they don’t have a **** local branch in my state. After a month, they gave me an email to send the documents to their overseas back office. Would you be comfortable sending by email? Me neither.
you will have to make a trip if i were you. banks these days are just utility companies, ought to find one that you drive by daily, keep a minimium balance. but i can't imagine they will ask you to send docs to overseas, that is a scam in my book.
Capital One..."Let's see how long we can use the float of this guy's money...Till he calls an attorney or a federal/state agency".
Those who had something to offer, already helped by sharing their experiences. I have shared my experience and spread the word. No one is expecting anything else. Bye Mervyn!
After Fatca, CRS, various leaks and the large fines to banks, KYC has become a major hassle and it s ime not remotely as easy to open accounts, especially offshore, and move money around than it was 15 years ago. It s not unusual to request customers to email documents, seems unlikely you sort out the issue if you don t find a way to forward the documents requested to the bank
It appears so. My only concern is emailing documents to god knows where. Email is not secure. Next time, I will bank with someone who has a branch in my zip code. I should have paid attention to that when opening an account with Capital One. But then, even local branch managers pick up the phone and call overseas back office. It seems all the power is there.
