Capital Gains Tax on Canadian stocks

How are capital gains on Canadian stocks treated for those that do not live in Canada?

Are the gains taxed by the relevant Canadian tax authority? (What is the web site of the tax authority?)

Or are the gains only taxable in the country where the investor currently pays his or her taxes?
