Cantor Exchange - Movie Futures

  1. Gee, I guess the Hollywood set really needs such an exchange to 'hedge' the garbage they're putting out lately.

What's next? A futures contract on the % of lard carried on the average american fatass?

Hey, maybe the insurance cos. might be interested in such a 'hedging tool'!

  2. Doesn't that type of "contract" already exist as a "spread bet" in the UK?

  3. Yep but this is a different company.
    From their website:

"The first product that Cantor Exchange intends to offer will be Domestic Box Office Receipt contracts, also known as Movie Box Office Contracts. Final regulatory approval is anticipated in the fourth quarter of 2009.

Cantor Exchange is a subsidiary of Cantor Fitzgerald, L.P. ("Cantor Fitzgerald"), a leading global financial services firm."

  4. 1) It would help to be "connected" to the major theater chains.
    2) Maybe this could pave the way for some type of sports betting/trading.
