Thanks Tommcginnis. I love precision and am embarrassed by my laziness in just labeling the version based on the file tag at the bottom of the TWS window which says "Classic TWS". But just to clarify, I am using 963.2c and the problem persists. And for that matter I have had this problem with every version I have used for many years. and I have always used the latest versions and sometimes the betas. Same problem. Not sure why the solution has eluded me and continues to do so for so long.
Along with sharing this TWS on my machine as with yours, every morning (pre-dating 949.3d??), I have to grab my Booktrader, go to settings, check Display DeepBook Buttons, then UNCHECK Display DeepBook Buttons, and then Apply...... Ev-er-y friggggginggggg day. But then, after the busiest of days, I look at my total trades, and I look at the summed commissions, and I think..... "Damn! Thank god I'm on IB....." Jeez. I sound like a toady. I'm sure I do. Maybe I am! (And maybe it's Kool-Aid! But it's good!)
@tommcginnis totally get that frustration! But to be honest, I even had that with professional trading platforms... come to think of it... it's just like any software really, the number of times I have to restart my phone or close and restart apps or tick this box again...
I am using Mosaic and this bothers me so much. Everytime I launch the platform I have to resize the column width using "Auto-adjust colum width" (right click on the column). The worst part is that I have several IB accounts, and when I flip thorugh them using the dropdown menu in the Portfolio Monitor, the column width changes every time and I have to re-click the Auto-size at every change of account. I asked IB to fix this bug and the answer was...."send as a screenshot of the issue", wtf do they expect to see in a screenshot??
Bump. This bug has been around as long as I can recall. My least-used account page now has the column widths so jammed up that I can’t even see prices without the tooltip, but I don’t dare mess with it for fear of screwing up my other account pages.
This is a known issue. To fix it, you have to rebuild your .xml file. This is the file that creates the layout. I know this is a serious pain. But check your XML file size. It has no garbage collection. So it keeps on growing and growing each time you change something, and eventually this bug shows up. So rebuild it by 1) renaming, the XML file. 2) Open TWS and recreate your layouts. 3) once you have it rebuilt, save a copy. Then you have a base to fall back upon. Until they rewrite TWS, it is a matter of managing the XML file. Make as few changes as possible to your layouts. PS: You can search the forums as I posted a solution about 3-4 years back. PPS: you can alternatively try to decipher the XML layout, but the problem is you can't be sure when it is correct.
