Still trying to solve a video card related problem, I thought I would make sure my NEC monitors had the latest NEC driver before I give up on a new Nvidia card. I downloaded their newest driver, it shows up in add/remove programs, but does not show up as the current driver when the current display driver is shown. Any ideas as to why this driver fails to install? I tried to install it via "update driver," pasted in the new file location, and it said it could not find a better match than the current driver(dated 2002). Thanks.

If you're running XP Home or Pro (with SP1 or SP2), the default Windows drivers for your monitor will be more than adequate. SP1 included newer device drivers, from monitors to network devices. SP2 just took it a step up and updated as much as possible with newer wi-fi hardwares. It is not updating (or able to update) with the new driver files since it's not any better than what you already have.
