Cannot imagine this... IB doesn't have SKF stock for lending...

  1. Today when I saw good opportunities to short the SKF (when it fell off from the peak), for several times, IB held my short orders and told me there is no available stocks for lending and it's trying to locate those stocks ...

    What happened?

Shorting SKF yesterday wasn't so difficult yesterday? In fact it was very smooth yesterday. But yesterday FAS didn't allow me to short too.

Maybe I should trade some other more liquid instruments, instead of wasting time on these illiquid ones?

    Any thoughts?

    Thanks!

  2. Correct. IB is big, imagine what the smaller brokers have to short...

  3. Maybe I should switch to some more liquid instruments? What are they?

    1. These instruments are VERY liquid.
    2. Yes, was hard to borrow SKF. Not IBs fault.

  5. Bc everyone shorts it around 200.

  6. You mean those people who started shorting it when it was 200 were still hold onto their short positions?

I need more liquid instruments (than SKF) for daytrading...

As another note, what can I learn and generate new trade ideas if I tested and shorts are so scarce in the market?
