Candlestick charts in excel

Discussion in 'Trading Software' started by DATTrader, Jan 15, 2002.

  1. ANyone ever tried to create a candlestick chart in excel? I am trying to do wo using the TAL data feed from Realtick, but I can't get the candlestick chart to look good. It comes out all strange looking and I have played with all the settings, parameters, etc., and just can't seem to get it to work. I was wondering if anyone had one already created I could just "pirate". Thanks.

DATTrader, I'm not a big Excel user but I had no trouble creating a half decent looking candlestick chart using Excel 97. The data should be in this order : open, high, low, close (arranged in columns or rows). From the Chart Wizard select Stock, and then highlight the candlestick sub-type. Then define everything hitting Next till Finish. Click on an up-bar, and then select a nice shade of green by clicking Fill Color. Do the same (with red) for the down-bars. I attach a worksheet containing a primitive chart which I just whipped up - modify according to your needs. Hope this helps.

Note : The 11:00am low should be 19.5 (not 19.8)
