Kudos to NFLX for stnading their grounds although I am sure it was motivated by the amount of money they make from the special. The thing is Chapelle's jokes are not dissing the trans community at all... it pokes fun at things.. no different than his jokes on white/black issues etc. 5 seconds digging into his background reveals his actual relationship with the community and then people would STFU. You can have your Jerry Seinfeld comedian who takes mundane subject to make jokes on or a Chapelle who comments on hot issues and things we are all thinking and taking a funny skew. Just because there is violence and hatred towards the trans community by some closed minded individuals does not mean a comedy routine discussing it suddenly is on that same level.
Remember never to say anything nice about JK Rowling or you will be cancelled. Dr Who star felt ‘stabbed in back’ after ‘cancel culture cowards erased him' from role DOCTOR WHO fans will undoubtedly remember James Dreyfus after he was set to play The Master in a series of audiobooks. However, he's now claimed to GB News host Andrew Doyle about how "cancel culture" resulted in him being "erased" from the sci-fi universe completely. https://www.express.co.uk/showbiz/tv-radio/1507832/Doctor-Who-James-Dreyfus-cancel-culture-GB-News James Dreyfus claimed to Andrew Doyle on his GB News show Free Speech Nation over the weekend how he felt “stabbed in the back” to be “erased” from a series of Doctor Who audiobooks. According to James, speaking publicly in support of author JK Rowling after she was accused of transphobia and asking gay rights charity Stonewall for a public debate resulted in audio company Big Finish cutting ties with the actor “without one phone call”. The conversation came after Andrew quizzed the actor on the idea that “cancel culture” isn’t seen as real in the eyes of some. Andrew kicked off the discussion, asking James: “What about this idea of cancel culture? There is a lot of people who talk about how cancel culture is not real, there aren’t people who are losing work because of their opinions, but I know for a fact you’ve experienced a form of this, haven’t you? “And this was to do with a Doctor Who role. Can you tell us, because I don’t think many people will be aware of this, can you tell us what happened there?” James claimed: “Well, I was working for an audio company playing rather a significant part in it and I signed a letter in support of JK Rowling and the horrendous abuse that she had been subjected to, and still is.
Oh look... the woke celebrities are trying to get Dave Chappelle cancelled. Celebs film video message to Netflix CEO ahead of Chappelle-releated walkout https://thehill.com/blogs/in-the-kn...deo-message-to-netflix-ceo-ahead-of-chappelle
"I’m team Terf" The thing is Dave made one comment supporting a very trans-phobe group (TERF comment).... his humor I dont think raised as many issues as that one last comment in his act. I still dont think he should be attacked or cancelled because I like him. I do think that comment he made was not truly how he feels given his trans friends and supporters but saying something like that kind of hurt them a lot... It would be like someone who is an ally to the Black community saying they publicly support the people who marched in charlottesville. Maybe a little hyperbole but that is the point when I really read and dig down to the backlash on Dave. For those who are just upset he made jokes about trans well fuck em because he makes jokes about blacks, whites, women etc.. But the terf comment is the real root of the outrage from trans community and they can speak their mind freely. But glad to see Netflix hold on to keeping the special on its service and just let people voice their opinions. The problem with America is the gray area of someone saything something of opinion and we all just accepting an opinion that may be different and we can speak out about it OR someone saying something truly offensive and hurtful and we taking away their mouthpiece. I think Dave is the former but he likes to push the boundaries in his comedy which is what makes him so good.
The employee, who is Black and pregnant, was encouraging employees and allies to walk out of work in protest of Netflix’s handling of the #DaveChappelle special. The employee was terminated on suspicion of leaking metrics to the press related to the Dave Chappelle special. Those metrics — about how much Netflix paid for The Closer and how many people it reached — subsequently ended up in a report on Bloomberg. Looks like she played a stupid game and won a stupid prize...
Any bets that @gwb-trading celebrated when Two Live Crew successfully fought the US Government from trying to cancel them? A few of Two Live Crews Videos: A Documentary:
How did you guess I was a Two Live Crew fan We should also pay some homage to their predecessor, Blowfly, who inspired them.
Never was a fan of N.W.A. -- but I never pushed for them to be cancelled or in any way restricted. Note that back in the days when these groups were big... we didn't have online "Cancel Culture" running amok. Back then it was more about people urging the government to restrict these groups and politicians playing to their base by holding Congressional hearings on lyrics, etc.
