You attack those expressing their free speech rights, not on the merits; but simply because they are expressing them. Yet, you raise the "backed by law" defense when it suits you. I am curious, In your opinion: Is free speech also backed by law? Did the Dr. Seuss publishers break the law in canceling those books?
I never said the Dr. Seuss publishers broke the law by stopping publishing those six books. I will ask why they are still being published in Chinese - if they are so offensive.
Why does it matter to the people here that it offends, for whatever reasons, whether you understand them or not? Africans that sold slaves to America weren't offended by slavery; but some people in America were. So it was eventually canceled. Why does it matter what Africans think about the canceling? So, people calling for the publishers to cancel the books broke no laws. And, The publishers broke no laws. So, What's your problem with this? Explain it to us ... why we should all be as pissed as you seem to be?
It appears you don't understand what it means to be free in America. Freedom to assemble and speak as one. Freedom to make decisions as a company. You want to replace these freedoms with an edict to only say and do what you feel is proper.
Do you have the freedom to assemble a mob to go over to someone's house threaten their life and burn their house down? Because this is what "Cancel Culture" is.
A group wanted to cancel some Dr. Seuss books. Legal. Dr. Seuss agreed. Legal. A group wanted to cancel Goya. Legal. Goya disagreed. Legal. Only the second example is deemed proper by the most high @gwb-trading
Did this happen with Dr. Seuss? Again, CC is a mythical creature. If a group of people illegally assemble, and commit crimes; then they should be brought to justice. It's silly to throw any and all groups of protesters into to one "cancel culture" basket; as though they are all related. Were the folks that wanted to cancel Goya, part of the same culture of folks that wanted to cancel the election results? Of course not. Stop believing silliness.
Once again it appears you don't understand the difference between "Cancel Culture" and civic advocacy.
