Canadian traders losing TOS

  1. Looks like they are getting massive pushback from TOS users. Apparently they delayed the rollout to March 1(as per reddit post)

Took a harder look at the platform and it is a long way from prime time. Best to stick with IBKR until the dust settles.

  2. TOS is the best out there for options and trading off the chart but in need of a massive overhaul imo...the new platform looks cleaned up to me.

  3. You are joking right? The charting is horrendous the new platform is using trading view charts.

That's not correct. They have a 'proprietary' based in-house TD developed chart system and it's terrible. Not even close to TradingView. I've had a TV account for years. Best in the business for charting.

I'm extremely disappointed in the TD Active Trader platform. TD really did the TOS users a massive disservice here. They should have never split from TOS. The platform is far from ready for any type of active trading. I'm transitioning to IBKR. Not happy about it, but beyond pissed at TD for doing this.

  6. I don't like how they have restricted selling CSP options (tos too) for stocks like MARA. I am trading those on IBKR. As far as the platform it does what I need it to do. The charts are way better on TD active trader than on TOS...they are abysmal on tos. It is also cleaned up. I haven't tried the active trader yet...but everything else I have tried like the analyzer tab works pretty much the same. All you really need are the options strategies, analyzer, and active trader if day trading. All the other features are a waste of space cluttering things up imo.

  7. Oh and you don't need the 25k USD in the account at all times which is great. More about the charts...the TD active trader is using trading view charts which is no comparison to the tos charts. I would have to leave tos to check the trading view charts especially for TA.

Anyway it looks identical, has all the same features, option strategies etc, better charting and looks cleaner. The only thing missing afaik is the conditional orders where you can close a position based on the underlying price instead of the options price..which is a cool feature because we don't know what the future option price will be relative to price levels. On IBKR I believe you can buy/sell options based on another underlyings price...so you can be holding AAPL options and sell if SPY hits a certain level.

  8. My experience with active trader so far has been okay. It's definitely a step back from ToS and they should have waited to transition Canadian customers IMO. Here are the pros and cons I see so far:

    Pros:
    - time adjustment on the charts is easier than ToS with the slider at the bottom

    Cons:
    - no mobile app yet
    - no currency pair quotes
    - no RTD() support (or API)

I don't do much trading on this platform so I don't really have any feedback related to this. The few trades I have made were executed without a problem. Also I don't do much option trading so I haven't really looked at the analyze tab yet.

    My 2 cents.

  9. Any feedback on this platform? They called me a couple of months ago and I took a pass. Wondering if they are improving it actively.

  10. It's better imo..just for the charts alone. It's basically a cleaned up version of tos. If you are on TOS then don't bother switching...if you were on TOS and lost access after they switched then it is by far the best platform of all the Canadian banks.
