Canadian oil China and the US

  2. This article is a nice little summary of the Canadian oil situation presently. It's no secret that Canada is currently making it a top economic priority to diversify its dependence on the USA market given the economic situation down south. This is demonstrated most prevalantly in the oil market, as the article points out, with increasing shipments to Asia.

    In my opinion, it would be disastrous for the USA to give in to the environmental lobbyists and reject the Keystone Pipeline down to Texas. If the USA approves this pipeline, they are gaurenteed a secure supply of oil from Canada for many years. If not, then Canada will simply continue to pay increasing attention to China at the expense of the USA.

    The USA will always be the #1 market for Canadian oil given the close geographical proximity, but China is becoming a bigger player more and more all of the time.
