Canadian election plays?

Discussion in 'Trading' started by BlueHorseshoe, Jan 3, 2006.

  1. Any Canadians or election traders have a view on prospects for the upcoming (Jan 23) Canadian election?

Elections have been huge pivot points for both equities and currencies over the last couple years (note most recently the Japanese election mid-year, which was closely followed by the stock market rally and Yen collapse.)

So what of the Canadian election? I don't know what to expect, but will be looking for a gravy train (i.e. Phat trend) to possibly emerge post-election, and to see some pre-election consolidation.

I don't trade canadian stocks but one thing i can tell you is that i'll probably be voting green again.

  4. The election outcome = irrelevant.

It's interest rates + oil which is driving the dollar.

I really don't think the election will have any impact.

I am glad to see Ralph Goodale getting skewered for the possible leak from his department. If he hadn't been so rude and obnoxious on ROBTV back in October, the leak may have been overlooked.
