So I sent a message to IB on sunday asking the following: 1. Can I buy Canadian 10 yr bonds 2. Can they be used as collateral like US bonds? I would like to take some US dollars and buy Canadian Bonds as a hedge against the dollar and use the bonds as cash to trade with. It is now after hours on Tuesday and IB has not replied yet. So I am doing what I should have done to begin with. Ask those that actually know more about IB than the IB staff. So what say you. Can I buy and hold the bonds in IB and do what I seek?
