They can only freeze it if it's on a centralized exchange or centralized wallet. Otherwise there is no control.
You mean like a double edge sword? Yeah, one might want to think things through. But I'm quite sure that behind those bright, idealist techies are individuals with excessive amounts of dirty money they need to launder. BTC doesn't need to be fiat at all. It could be some sort of gold replacement/basket of currencies whose purpose would be to eliminate currency fluctuations? Honestly, I don't know anything about monetary policies or BTC.. I'm just in it for the money!
If you're fast enough--not after they're frozen. And there will be a record of the exact amount you withdrew and when you withdrew it.
If people want to launder dirty money, they will find all kinds of ways to launder it, crypto or no crypto. No point in ruining cryptos in the name of cracking down on money laundering. I think I told you before, cryptos will never be a gold replacement. Now its anonymity is gone, it's just another tradable commodity.
The virtue signaling about "going after money laundering" is asinine. It's like people getting all excited about going after Russian oligarchs while American oligarchs (like the President and his son) have their own dirty money operations.
My point isn't to question BTC as a laundering method. As you say, there are miriad ways to do so. I question BTC as a libertarian tool for bypassing governments control over money flows. If the Canadian trucker farce is any indication, dark money can promote any thing and every thing that can destabilize both government and nation. I don't know why I have to keep reminding libertarians that government are elected by the people and democracy is the surest way to create change, electing the person/party you believe will promote your ideas. It doesn't mean you will win, but it means the majority did. It's too easy to say government is corrupt, politicians are whatever. Devaluing government and thus the democratic process only invites dictatorship. We came close when Trump and co. refused to abide by the result of the last presidential election. Since the beginning of civilization, government has had control or at least strong influence over currency among other important functions. Removing that responsibility with BTC (as example) further erodes the government's ability to promote the agenda they are elected to pursue and further promotes the power of dark money to effect changes the majority of people may not agree with. I get it, libertarians don't give two shits about the majority of people or the government's function to allocate and distribute tax monies to improve a society's standard of living. Libertarians are soloists who believe in self reliance first. And that's why they never win elections.
No, we succeeded in almost completely tearing down our constitutional republic (we were never a pure democracy) when we allowed all kinds of shenanigans to go on during election night. Then the judiciary system was shown to be a joke when they ignored hundreds of affadavits, refused to inspect voting machines and Dominion's operations and source code (since that happened, Dominion's has been Eric Croomer arrested and proven to be a complete nut job). No one "refused" anything and the Antifa/BLM/Chaz Floyd riots (taking place in hundreds of cities with dozens of killings and over $2 billion in damage) were much closer to an insurrection. And there were no hearings, witch hunts, spending 14+ months in jail without a trial, etc. over January 20, 2017. Why U scared off Trump when it is Biden/Obama/Bush that did had all the wars in the 00's 10s and 20s ?
