No, but I can understand why someone may have done this given the past crimes committed against their community and the completely unacceptable current reaction of the Catholic Church.
You know in the U.S. deliberately burning a church, temple, mosque or other religious dwelling is a hate crime under both federal and state law. Why isn’t this a hate crime in Canada?
It was the Canadian Parliament that enacted the law to dislocate the kids to all sorts of places that were not their home or their village. Not the Pope. That's why they were there in the first place and the government overlooked and condoned any problems in the places where they were sent. So if there is burning going on for those responsible, Canadians might want to put some extra protection around the Parliament building be because therein is root cause of the problem. Although it was just an expression of the will of the racist Canadians and basic colonial oppression. Shame. Total shame.
Who said it isn't ? In fact, Canada's hate crime laws cover more ground then the US. They haven't caught anyone yet on the fires. We have however been far more vigilant in charging "Real" Canadians with hate crimes against native communities in recent years. Ok, so Ontario just passed the US on the fully vaccinated percentage. And Americans have had a ton of opportunity to get vaccinated it's just a ton of them that refuse to do so. And some of them are out mingling like they did, leading to far more hospitalizations than should ever occur at this point. Seems kind of ignorant.
