If the Canadian government does not want to foster a "quarantine hotel" scam.... then the government needs to step up and pay for the hotel quarantine stays for incoming travelers --- Or the government needs to define a single clearly defined rate that must be charged to travelers for quarantine stays including standards for the food that must be served to them and the amenities in the room. Canada needs to follow the path of what other civilized countries are doing in terms of quarantine facilities. For example, New Zealand is charging NZ$3,100 for the first adult, $950 for each additional adult and $475 for each child to stay in their quarantine hotels/facilities for two weeks -- with clearly defined food and services. For a family arriving in New Zealand the exact cost and services are known up-front. You don't arrive at the hotel front desk and get scammed.
Sad to say, they are content right now about the cost scam. Probably won't fix it (reimburse) much of the cost until later after many complaints. In fact, they had on TV and interview with one of Canada's minister that deals with this situation and aware of it via all the complaints and media exposure... He stated they're looking into the situation and will fix it although no details about what that "fix" will be nor any info about how long will it take. In fact, he specifically discussed someone he personally knew that had traveled to Portugal for the funeral and resolve estate affairs for her father that recently died...her credit card was charge like +3400 dollars after initially being told the 3 day stay will be only $1200 dollars. Here in Québec, Canada there's another issue...we already have designed "quarantine hotels" at much cheaper rates that are not being used in comparison to the new quarantine hotels with the outrageous rates. One of those new designated "quarantine hotels" is the Sheraton with the outrageous rates that are designated (mandatory) by those returning from travel abroad. Seriously, if I tested positive for Covid right now and I have vulnerable family members in my home...I can check in a designated quarantine hotel for about $100 per night and get tested every 3 days until two consecutive negative results. In contrast, had I flown in from the United States and I'm not positive for Covid but I'm required to quarantine at the government designated hotel...it will cost me thousands of dollars. Here's the thing...both hotels are blocks apart and at 30% capacity. Therefore, I fault both the government and specific hotels within the hotel industry that know their rates are outrageous. The question now...is the government telling those hotels to charge those rates or the hotels charging those rates because they need to reimburse the government ??? We'll know the answer in a few months. This actually reminds me of stores suddenly changing their prices for Lysol can spray for $2.85 per can to $15.00 per can in the first few weeks of the Pandemic. Then there's the issue with toilet paper...prices jumped 3x their price levels but people still were filling their carts up with toilet paper at outrageous prices. It's called price gouging. It took a few months into the Pandemic for many provinces of Canada to put restrictions on price gouging during the Pandemic. Regardless, unlike the mandatory quarantine hotels, grocery stores and pharmacy stores didn't jump the prices up higher at the check out line like the hotels are doing as much as they can without going over that designated max number of I think is $3500 for a 3 day hotel stay. As for the most common complaint...the food service...that's easily fixable and the sexual assaults require the police (RCMP). wrbtrader
Trump vaccine coming to Canada. The only reason the AstraZenica vaccine will be available is because Trump aggressively went ahead and ordered the units even before they were approved in the U.S. - taking the risk that they may or may not be approved. Now- rather than throw the vaccine away- Biden is using it to buy political favor from third world countries that cannot take care of themselves- such as Canada and Mexico. You are welcome Canada. Once again, Trump saving lives out in the colonies. And you know that you will feel more safe and secure when you get your Trump vaccine. Although an Indian or Chinese or Russian vaccine could be right for you too.
And in today's news from Canada... COVID Levels "getting out of control" in Ottawa https://www.msn.com/en-ca/news/cana...g-out-of-control-in-ottawa-etches/ar-BB1eJqaB
Doug Ford has given a proper response. "GOD BLESS AMERICA. THEY ARE COMING TO OUR RESCUE" You are welcome Premier Ford. A little bit of humility is a good thing and we thank you for that. Sending vaccine to Canada is not a place I wanted to end out being before the middle of the summer but I accept that that is where we are for various reasons. If Canadians could at least refrain from being uppity to help make it palatable to Americans then that is helpful. Premier Ford seems to understand that. The fake Canadians here on the forum who do not have true Canadian values - we know who you are- listen up. ‘God bless America’: Doug Ford reacts to report U.S. plans to send Canada 1.5M vaccine doses https://globalnews.ca/news/7704842/doug-ford-reacts-u-s-sending-canada-covid-19-vaccines/
Contrary to OP's mindless dribble, there is actually a Canadian producer of a vaccine in third round testing. Not that we care what country produces the vaccines if they work. I don't see any top US based IT firms turning down top Canadian candidates; certainly guys like TreeFrogTrader there is no job for them for obvious reasons.
I have numerous people blocked I couldn't care less. Dum dums like TreeFrogTrader are just a running example of how horribly uneducated some Americans are. Isn't Maine a colony of Nova Scotia ? I just heard that our PM quietly reminded Trump at one point that if he blocked some of the masks going to Canada we could shut down some of our power exports to certain states. End of block.
I have no position in this, I'm just pointing out that if you went 15 pages deep, you obviously do care.
