Canada’s covid-19 second wave is a humbling moment after a summer of bragging

Time to take a look again if the American vaccine rollout that TreeFrogTrader is so proud of and how the opening up of various areas is working out for our neighbor to the South. Those who can handle simple multiplication can multiply Canadian numbers by 9 to get a comparison pro rated by population. TreeFrogTrader will have to find someone to help with the math.

Canada : New cases yesterday 2325 deaths 21
New cases two day ago 3370 deaths 41
US : New cases yesterday 58601 deaths 1515
New cases two days ago 69240 deaths 1836

Not only is the 2.5 times disparity in deaths maintaining it's gotten much worse. No wonder Americans are desperate to rollout the vaccines, but somebody better clue TreeFrog in he's barking up the wrong tree !!! If only you could match Canada's Covid experience things would be far better for you regardless of the exact month people get vaccines and where they are sourced from.

Perhaps more "bragging" is in order, and less whining from the dumb fuck who calls himself TreeFrog. You know, keeping people alive is always good. We'll use the global economy like it's meant to be used; pay for goods we need and export what other nations need. Latest figures showed Canada has just flipped back to being a net exporter for the first time in a couple of years. This will of course go way over TreeFrog's head he subscribes to Trump's MAGA lets not import stuff dream. Strangely though, US trade deficit grew to record amounts under his leadership :).

And no, TreeFrog, we still aren't a colony of the US no matter how many times you post it. If you came up here and started spouting off like you do on here eventually one of us "real" Canadians would give you a lesson. Promise.

I doesn't take a rocket scientist to know when these Covidiots are just trolling or just ignorant...maybe both.

Any country that has differences that great in comparison should be proud and the country with the worst numbers should be making an effort to get its numbers much lower to equal / better than their neighboring country.

The differences are so great...not even worth the time for comparison. It's like watching a losing team in a hockey game that tries to explain why they lost the game by a difference of 9 - 10 goals.

In fact, I will go as far to say even if Canada had no vaccinations (as in zero) while the United States have been vaccinating as they currently have been...

Canada's infections, hospitalization / ICU's, Deaths from Covid-19 will still be much lower than the United States due to the exact same reasons as the beginning...
    • Too many in the United States make the health crisis a political debate while Canadians are better at following the health guidelines.
In fact, I know Canadians that are not yet vaccinated. You could not pay them to travel to the U.S. if vaccines was only available in the U.S. because they feel its much safer to just stay here in Canada and wait their turn for a vaccination here even with the delays.

Nine_Ender, seriously, at some point you're going to get tired of debating with these Covidiots / Trumpers...take a good shower and tell all of them to FUCK OFF so that you can get back posting about issues that matter to you.
    • Wear your face mask, social distance, wash your hands and keep a small bottle of hand sanitizer in your pocket for unexpected use.
There will be no award for you to convince any of them which country is performing better than the other. Protect yourself and your family...that's what matters.

The vaccination hotel scam in Canada is out of control and now people are suing...

People Are Suing The Canadian Government To Cancel 'Cruel' Mandatory Quarantine Rules
And they want their hotel money returned.
    https://www.narcity.com/en-ca/news/canadas-travel-restrictions-are-getting-legally-challenged

Several people are suing the federal government in efforts to put an end to Canada's travel restrictions.

An advocacy group called the Canadian Constitution Foundation (CCF) says that the country's mandatory quarantine rules are "unconstitutional" and that some of the hotels themselves are operating with "inhumane conditions."

In a statement published on March 8, the CCF says the travel mandates violate Canadian's charter rules to enter Canada and be free from "arbitrary detention" and "cruel and unusual punishment."

They state that the quarantine requirement should be stopped immediately and Canadians should receive their money back if they stayed in one of the mandatory quarantine hotels.

A group of five people are also suing the government with the CCF and arguing they should be exempt from the travel rules because they're travelling for "compassionate reasons."

"It is frankly bizarre and cruel that the federal government provides specific exemptions for compassionate travel into Canada, but not for the reverse situation of individuals travelling out of Canada for compassionate reasons," the CCF wrote.

A spokesperson from the Public Health Agency of Canada told Narcity that the Government of Canada intends to respond to the application but could not comment further.

Currently, international travellers returning to Canada must stay at a quarantine hotel for up to three days until they receive the results of a COVID-19 test while paying for the hotel room themselves.

"We don't believe that Canadian taxpayers should be on the hook for paying any part of the cost for the choice and decision that some individual has made to engage in non-essential discretionary travel," said one Canadian official in February.

Canada's GDP forecast upgraded to 5% gain in 2021. Vaccines rollout may be slower then the US but we are managing to keep far more people alive and restrictions are starting to get lifted again. Schools were fully open here from September to December afaik.

These are people returning back to Canada...

They obviously have resources (friends / relatives) that can bring to the hotel their meals that they prefer to eat or meet their dietary needs.

Further, all the rooms should have a "microwave" for reheating foods and a small mini fridge in each room...the latter they usually do at the hotels discussed in the article unless the hotels have been removing the mini fridges / microwave.

Personally, I would just call a friend upon my arrival to a hotel...go get me an electric crepe maker, electric steamer / skillet all for less than $150 bucks prior to checking into the hotel. Also, assuming they traveled with their laptop, iphone or mobile device...they also have access to their portable WiFi hotspot and all their cable TV programs. :D

I know a few people that have done the above when they were quarantine at a hotel after returning back to Canada from travel...no problems.

Wait you find out that the hotel which has an off-the-street rate of $159 per night is charging you over $1000 per night if you arrive for quarantine plus large extra charges for each additional person in the room. All of this was discussed earlier on this thread. The "quarantine hotel" situation in Canada is a complete scam.

Of course the dollar amount is a scam...

But the quarantine is necessary...not a scam for all travelers entering Canada.

The issue I'm raising is that this Pandemic has been going on for a year and we've have border closures too.

The first time they tried it...there was no mandatory quarantine nor quarantine hotels. Simply, the government trusted people that they would go straight home after landing at the airport.
    • They discover "most" were not doing such.
They were going shopping at malls / stores, visiting others that were not a member of their household prior to going home. Thus, the quarantine is necessary but the rates are outrageous plus the other complaints.

There's been a few cases of sexual assault but that's actually normal in the hotel industry. The most common complaint is the food service / hotel dollar amount which is why many are now being prepare when they return via relying more on their friends / relatives especially those with special dietary needs.

Seriously, for $1,000 dollars per night...people were expecting a 5 star food experience. :D

A friend of mine had his relatives bring to the hotel what he needed prior to check in...potential food problems solved. He stayed at the Sheraton and stated his room was no different than the rooms he stayed at the Sheraton in the prior years before the Pandemic.

The difference was the cost (mandatory / credit card charge) and what he could do at the hotel.
