War of 1812. You lost every battle and left. Seriously, you are acting stupid. Just like when you pretend the US won WW2, and forget you had Allies. Trump doesn't know what an Ally is, just what a lawyer does in his many legal battles.

I'm not sure what to make of all the ET members (mainly right wing commentators) who've been ragging on Canada for many years...

    It's too cold.
    Trudeau sucks.
    Too many liberals.
    Healthcare sucks.
    Hockey sucks.
    Too many Indigenous Canadians.
    Maple Syrup sucks.
    Resources sucks
    Nothing to offer us.

Today, they now want to buy Canada or defend their MAGA king who wants to buy Canada or use military force if necessary (Trump's own words) to take control of a democratic country who has defended their asses during War and has shown no military aggression...stupidity. :D

FYI - I do not think I've ever seen someone here at ET that's a Democrat rag on Canada and then defend wanting to buy Canada or threaten to use military force if necessary to own Canada.

The only military aggression was in 1812 by the United States who invaded Canada along the Niagara frontier. The United States did it because of it's expansion grievances and trade problems with Britain. The U.S. would continue having fears about Britain up to World War II and once again wanted to build military bases in Canada during WWII especially after the Soviet Union helped to defeat Germany.

During the invasion of Germany in WWII...the United States fears grew about Britain and the Soviet Union.

Simply, the United States and Russia have a history of backstabbing ally countries all who've shown no military aggression towards the United States because of expansion grievances and trade problems. Now the two want to hold hands again when the dictator of Russia plays the United States (Trump and MAGA) like puppets...

Trump naively thinks he can hold that big stick over Russia the same the United States did in NATO for many decades by buying Greenland and Canada in his territory expansion goals.

Yet, Trump underestimated that Greenland and Canada do not want to be part of the United States because the U.S. will bring their problems (e.g. violent crime, guns, high cost healthcare, right wing ideology, poor quality of life, price gouging of consumers, American anti-Catholicism, et cetera)...

The American Civil War is a lesson in history that America is divided and the American experiment could fail again to result in another Civil War between the people or it's politicians.

We know why the United States wants Canada because its for the things that they do not have...more likely than not...Canada could become the replacement to Europe if the United States follows through with Trump's threat to pull out of NATO.

Then again...some think the route of Nationalism & Isolationism for the United States is going while being led by Musk (South African/Canadian immigrant)...some states are now talking about leaving the Union.

By the way, I do not agree with the above redrawn map. Let the states with a high Hispanic population (e.g. Texas, California, Florida) join Mexico and the states with low crime rates (e.g. Idaho, Wyoming, North Dakota) become a territorial of Canada. :D

That will not work but it is funny.

In contrast, if Trump pulls federal funding of certain states who do not do what he wants them to do while making them continue to pay federal taxes...hurting the entire state...

The state may go forward with a vote to leave the Union although such occurring is near zero just like citizens of Canada voting to leave their universal healthcare, low education costs, free water, low electricity costs, diverse political parties, low crime rates, safety, and excellent quality of life to join the United States when it's being led by the likes of Trump & MAGA. :D

Further, Trump trying to use the U.S. Armed Forces to invade a Democratic country like Canada who has defended the United States in every War/Conflict and has never shown any military aggression towards the United States since the mid 1800s...

Trump would be the first United States President since the War of 1812 in its battle with Britain to invade Canada in the Niagara frontier when Britain was at War with France.

Congress will never approve of such an invasion (declaring war on Canada). Yet, if Trump tries such a stupid stunt by giving orders to our U.S. military...he'll be impeached, arrested, a military coup, or worst would occur.

Well, we have this group of Canadians who are totally onboard with joining Trump's America. They are obviously institutionalized.

We want to live in America’s 51st state: The Canadians pledging their loyalty to Trump
To many Canadians, talk of joining the United States is simple apostasy, but for some the idea is appealing

The guy and others are dual citizens or married to an American. In addition, they're not willing to give up (abandon) their Canadian citizenship because they would lose access to the many Canadian resources they own...

Similar to the Americans who want to abandon Democracy to become a territory of Russia while they remain living in the United States.

Thus, they're out there while not understanding why Canada has not been invaded since the 1800s with such a small Armed Forces in comparison to the large size of it's territory...the same as to why America does not understand...the people would not allow it except for a tiny percentage of aging old folks with nothing else to do.

That's one of the funny things about "separatists". Most of them are from Alberta while they forget the person who leads them is Pierre Poilievre...a person who dislikes Trump more than Trudeau and would would not entertain the thought of Canada losing it's sovereignty.

Pierre Poilievre is more willing than Trudeau to engage in a trade war, political trolling et cetera while we all know every 4 years the dynamics in the United States changes again...a new administration will change what the prior administration has done...that's the division in American politics.

Shared by all political parties in Canada and +90% Canadians...

“America is not Canada. And Canada never, ever will be part of America in any way, shape or form,”

Personally, if the few want to join another country or become a territory of another country...they should just move to that other country instead of being a small minority living in a country who has a larger majority of the population who do not share the ideology of the small minority who need to lose their sovereignty.

More Americans are doing just that...they're leaving the United States to go live in countries like Canada, Mexico, United Kingdom, Germany, France, South Korea, Japan, Thailand, and Australia...immigration is UP to those countries who are attracting Americans.

By the way, South Korea (a sovereign, independent nation) has more separatists than Alberta, Canada. More importantly, South Korea has more U.S. military bases, U.S. veterans and expats living in South Korea than Alberta Canada but South Korea has less talk from a smaller percentage of Koreans talking about losing their sovereignty (joining) to the United States.

I've live in Canada, the United States, France (South Korea in the past), there's something about the United States scaring away it's citizens to go live in other countries and it's beyond the divisive political environment in the U.S.

In my opinion, more Americans are finding the courage to leave the U.S. instead of staying and bitching. Those in Canada should do the same (leave Canada) if they want Canada to lose its sovereignty to the United States.

FYI - Only a dictator talks about invading a Democratic country who has not shown any military aggression and the country has a history of defending the United States during War.

Last of all, Trump once mentioned he wanted to see more Europeans immigrate to the United States instead of leaving their continent. Yeah, they have concerns too about the United States and more are preferring to migrate within their own continent instead of immigrating to the United States...

Most are from Britain, Germany, Ukraine, Poland, and Russia. The War in Ukraine boosted the fastest growth in immigration to the United States from the mentioned countries but overall the immigration has been "declining"...they prefer to stay within their continent.

Most Americans don't understand the strength of the Canadian people, our history, what makes us different then Americans. And those differences have exasperated the last two decades. Even Quebec the number that would consider leaving Canada is half of what it used to be during the independence movement days. Bottom line though the US needs to pick their battles and Trump doesn't seem to have any ability to do so.

Ultimately, the military isn't going to risk young people's lives for pointless immoral projects. Putin may have gotten away with it so far but the interest rates and poor economy there isn't helping their countries future.
