Very few people believe in Trump's plan at this point. You are in very small club and many of them are paid to lick Trump's boots. Here's the problem you have; the economy and markets need some confidence in the future for people to invest in and pursue projects. Canada isn't going to accept any of this bs the attempt to intimidate us failed miserably. If you continue down this road it's going to be a disaster for the American people. You can keep posting delusional bs all you want to there is no point to it. Guess what those Canadian friends of yours won't want you visiting any more.

Ok tell me what tariffs Canada had with the US end of last year. I'm all ears. I'll give you there are some very recent tariffs with China. Our dairy system is fair for all involved. If it's viewed as subsidies well guess what Trump term one gave the farmers billions of subsidies. All you are doing is feeding into Trump's false narratives I have no patience for that I'm confronting you on this. Trump doesn't need encouragement he needs some sane voices around him to get him off this path.

This reply by @volpri is in response to a timeline of events posted by @Sprout

That timeline includes several events when Trump threatened Canada. And now, @volpri says, Canada is not going to become another state. Now who is right? Trump or @volpri ?

You can google it as easy as I can.
    From Copilot:
In 2024, Canada imposed tariffs on various U.S. goods, often as part of trade negotiations or in response to U.S. policies. Here are some of the key products that were subject to tariffs:

Steel and aluminum products - These were targeted due to ongoing trade disputes.

Agricultural goods - Items like dairy, poultry, and eggs faced tariffs under supply management systems.

Softwood lumber - A long-standing issue in Canada-U.S. trade relations.

Automotive parts - Certain components were subject to tariffs.

Processed foods - Products like canned goods and snacks.

Textiles and apparel - Some clothing and fabric imports.

Machinery and equipment - Specific industrial machinery faced tariffs.

Chemical products - Including fertilizers and industrial chemicals.

Consumer electronics - Certain devices and components.

Beverages - Alcoholic beverages like wine and spirits.

These tariffs were influenced by trade agreements like the USMCA and retaliatory measures.

Since 1984 or so I have endured my Canadian friends railing on the USA to my face telling how bad we were and what terrible products we produced and how capitalism was wrong...etc yada yada yada. Once in a while I stood up for us Americans but most of the time, I just listened to their BS quietly. One day back in the 80's we were invited to eat at one of their houses. The husband started in on his railing against the USA. It was impolite and very uncomfortable for us. His wife I think saw that and she spoke up and said: "Canadians are just jealous of the USA". That one statement by her, a woman, a teacher, and from a German Mennonite background saved the day and our meal.

Over the years we kept our friendship with our Canadians friends in spite of how they talked so bad about us and our products and especially our government. Yet they love to come to the USA...travel around...vacation..etc. So now that the USA has really given them something to bitch about if they want to go their separate ways and cut off all friendship then they can just do it! I have put up with their arrogance and nonsense for years and remained their friend. One did call me the other day on my cell phone bitching about Trump and Musk since Trump got elected BY THE PEOPLE. I and my son who I was with, in his truck, forcefully, on the telephone, stopped him. I am just really tired of his BS. He hasn't called back. Time will tell the tale if he remains a friend or not. The ball is in his court. Not mine. I consider him and his family still a friend.

Don't make the mistake of betting against the USA in this tariff stuff. Canada will be the one suffering greater damage than the USA but Mexico will hurt even more. Time for the USA to take our stand. We have, on our taxpayer dime supported United Nations...Nato.. defended Europe..etc and policed the world. To the fiscal detriment of the USA. Most of the time the world has been ungrateful, rail on the USA so now it is time for all that to end. Let the world figure it all out themselves and take care of themselves. As for us WE AMERICANS WILL SURVIVE AND THRIVE AGAIN. WE WILL RISE TO THE OCCASION. IT IS IN OUR DNA!

I am not against trade. I am against free trade agreements made by governments.

I have many Mexican friends.in different areas of Mexico and many friends in Honduras.

I also have friends among these Mennnonites in Chihuahua Mexico. They came from Canada. Some have a Russian background from the late 18th and 19th century.

" Even though these Mennonites are Dutch and Prussian by ancestry, language and custom, they are generally called Russian Mennonites, Russland-Mennoniten in German. In the years after 1873, some 7,000 left the Russian Empire and settled in Canada. In the period leading up to and during World War I, governments in the Canadian provinces of Manitoba and Saskatchewan passed laws requiring public schools to fly the Union flag, required compulsory attendance, and created public schools in areas of Mennonite settlement. In response, the more conservative Mennonites sent out delegates to a number of countries to seek out a new land for settlement. They finally settled in a tract of land in Northern Mexico after negotiating certain privileges with Mexican President Álvaro Obregón. Approximately 6,000 of the most conservative Mennonites eventually left Manitoba and Saskatchewan for Mexico. The first train left Plum Coulee, Manitoba, on March 1, 1922. Source: Wikipedia

Trump's Birthright Citizenship plan and handing over your sacred tribal land for mining companies to "drill baby drill"... I guess you are totally ok with all of that?

Do not mistake GENUINE helping with the need to protect one's assets. Why get involved in Korea, Vietnam, Iran, Iraq, Afghanistan, Nicaragua? That was all about just helping the poor people in these countries wasn't it? Let's all have a look today at how all these countries have benefited from USA "policing" the World shall we? Next you'll be telling me that the World Bank is a lovely non-profit charitable foundation with the purest aim of helping countries in need. Gimme a frikin break from your nonsense man.
