What you wrote is right. But it does not fit in this case. I don't know if you've read the discussion. I asked how to read the graphs. No one answered. I figured that myself. Then I asked how to calculate the ticks, since my attempts gave me an inconsistent method. No one answered, but rather told me off for 4 pages. No one had time to "teach me everything" apparently but the time to write 4 pages of useless and off-topic was indeed available. Then if you check, at post #46 I finally figured out a way to fix the problem and asked if my solution was correct. No one even confirmed or denied it. Most likely people didn't even read it. So yes, the attitude "I know nothing, please tell me everything" is indeed wrong. But here what happened was "Hey guys I am a newbie and you are experts, I studied this but I have these little doubts, can you help me?", and what I got was "No man, that's too hard", "Don't you have google?", "No what you did is wrong (without explaining why)". Now at page 6, I figured out the questions I had asked by myself. Some could say "you should thank us, see? You got it yourself", but that's bullshit in my opinion. What's the point of a forum if we don't help each other? It's not like I am going to take money off your pocket, if I ask a question you either answer (if you know the answer), or you don't. Instead of giving me a lecture and telling me I am an ignorant (which I had already admitted in the first place).
Man, you really don't get it. You really think we don't have time ? But yet wrote you very important things, much more important than ready answers you wanted. I will write it again. Why anyone should give any of his time to give you answer, if from your posts one can see that your attitude to all that is wrong... What you called "off-topic" is the essence. You are like thousands of other ppl, "I don't want to do the hard work, I just want the money, so stop "teaching me" just give me answers I need, so I can go and make that money". I want to be on the pick of the mountain, but naah, of course I don't like to climb, I just want to be on the pick... And NO - you didn't studied anything if you asked that questions. And taking 1 course is not studying anything. Wake up, we are talking about years of hard work or at least many months if you are in favorable environment. So yes, specially for you - you should thanks us I guarantee you, that doing that by yourself you get much more knowledge then receiving ready answers. The point of the forum is not to teach ppl about completely basic stuff. It's to exchange. And what you can contribute from yours side ? "No man, that's too hard", "if I ask a question you either answer (if you know the answer), or you don't." Same and same again. You didn't get answer not because ppl didn't know. I already wrote you why a couple lines above.
Look, I don't want to waste time arguing. You have this perspective? Ok. But I think that what you wrote is factually false. When exactly did I ask to teach me an entire topic? Go back through the pages. I asked that question about why my tick calculation didn't work. It was one, single, banal question. Not an entire topic. It would have taken 1 line to explain it, but if you scroll through the pages you'll see that nobody answered it and rather I got treated as a sort of leech who wants the easy prize and rob people of their hard work. What can I contribute from my side? Nothing, I introduced myself as a newbie. But for sure if someone asks me something that I know, I give him the answer rather than writing pages of words without a single relevant thing. I also don't understand what part you don't get about me studying a course. It never happened to you to follow a class and you understand most of it but there is 5% of it which you didn't get properly and so you're stuck? So imagine that scenario; the student goes to the teacher and asks a clarification regarding that 5% he didn't understand, at this point the teacher replies "don't you have google?" "you expect me to gift you all the knowledge I gathered in years?". "Look kid, this topic requires years to be understood, so no, I won't answer your question, go study the entire topic for a few years and then come back to me". What a teacher would that be? Anyways thanks to all of you for your time anyway.
Ok, we clearly don't understand each other. So I wish you well in your trading journey and I'm out of that thread. "and rather I got treated as a sort of leech who wants the easy prize" that's exactly what you did asking that kind of question before digging just a bit in topic. So don't be surprised. "and rob people of their hard work" - not rob, just show them that you don't want to do your own hard work, from scratch, the work that other people went through. I posted you some links, very useful, you didn't bother to check what is that about and answer. The more you put into that, the more you will get from that. But it's your choice. Here is answer to your question (so you know that we here are bunch of nicest people in the world): - soybean is quoted in cents per bushel, minimum fluctuation (tick) is 1/4 of a cent, worth 12,5 usd. So it's 4 tick to have 1 point/ unit (1 cent), that's 50 usd per point (unit, in this case - cent) - soybean meal is quoted in cents per short tone, minimum fluctuation (tick) is 0,1 of a cent, worth 10 usd, so it's 10 ticks to have 1 point/ unit (1 cent), that's 100 usd per point (unit, in this case - cent) - soybean oil is quoted in cents per pound, minimum fluctuation (tick) is 1/100 of a cent, worth 6 usd, so it's 100 ticks to have 1 point/ unit (1 cent), that's 600 usd per point (unit, in this case - cent) - metals you mentioned, let's take gold, it's quoted in dollars (and cents) per ounce, minimum fluctuation (tick) is 0,1 of a dollar, so it's 10 ticks to have 1 point /unit (1 dollar), that's 100 usd per point (unit, in this case - dollar) "What a teacher would that be?" - we are not your teachers
TDA TOS doesn't look bad.... Spread is acceptable, margin is not bad, platform+data is free, ...etc. I like its simplicity the most. Not sure if it's exchange supported spread or not though... (I guess it is). EDIT: Found longer version. TOS is quite attractive option to choose indeed.... all the hassle free....
