Hi all, I'm used to trade eurex futures here from Belgium. I could start trading CME E-minis (S&P 500 most likely) soon. Although I made some research, local official trading hours remains à mystery to me! CME website says "8:30 - 15:15",with maintenance(what is that?) around 17:15 while others source(including my historical datas) shows much longer trading periods... Could anyone enlighten me? Thx so much! Alex
During the trading week, the ES is open 24 hours per day, except (1) 4:15-4:30 PM, Eastern Time and (2) 5:30-6:00 PM.. that's the "maintenance" period.
thx! So, 8:30 - 15:15 are official trading hours? Volumes are much much lower outside this time range...
Well, that's the USA's RTH. Yes, volumes are much lower, but you can often trade 50-100 lots with only .25 slippage on part of an order, especially after Europe has opened.
