Well, I gave it some thought but thanks for your opinion on the matter. Since the Federal Reserve is unconstitutional in the first place I guess anything is possible, including replacing Helicopter Ben mid-term or scraping the whole system altogether. There, I feel much better now .
Its probably possible, but it would be unprecedented. The Fed is supposed to be politically independent. If he was to be removed it would probably be viewed as politically motivated and would send markets into a tailspin unless markets were already in crisis(which they aren't nor are they anywhere near crisis), then it may bring stability. neither scenario would be pretty.
He made enough already. If Al Gore's new net worth is any indication, Greenspan is probably now worth $500m.
He's still around http://ftalphaville.ft.com/blog/2008/01/15/10154/if-you-can’t-beat-’em-greenspan-joins-hedge-fund/
This is a scathing discussion that points out how Bernanke thinks that inflation will actually cool down as the US/global demand lessens, but in fact ignores that the fed policies are actually exporting and fueling inflation: http://www.realclearmarkets.com/Across the Curve_economics.pdf
