Yeah that’s a possibility. Start off by checking the market forecast and how diverse currencies can be traded in the near future.
@Ralf I wonder why you would want to trade without a broker. Leverage according to me is the best reason behind opting for a broker. No doubt they prefer giving out high leverage, but there are few brokers like pepperstone and fxview who put a cap on your leverage to avoid any margin call.
Not really. The largest speculators have been using national and even worldwide media to spread rumors for the longest. Why is it a problem now that smaller players are able to chat amongst each other? Besides, even if it is easier to spread rumors via social media, I seriously doubt that the capital of the public can come anywhere near rivaling the capital of institutions.
When you speak of propaganda at national or global level, that’s scaling up the game to a whole another level. What happens on that scale is something we retailers do not even realize is happening
True and I don’t think without a broker, opening short position is even possible. Never occurred to me how or where to borrow the asset from to sell at a higher price and make some money. Is there any other option?
Still trying to get my head wrapped around this idea about shorting. How long can you actually keep a short position for?
Ask your broker about this. He’s the one who decides the time frame to keep the borrowed shares. Like ICM helps me maintain the short position as long as I honor the margin requirement and pay the interest. Same with fxview when it comes to flexibility. But not necessarily every broker allows this.
It's the same thing except what the financiers are doing is even worse. They use mainstream media outlets to publish rumors that will affect price in their favor. Them using mainstream media outlets automatically give their propaganda credibility in the eyes of the average reader. At least on social media, people will be weary from the get-go since it comes off as more of chatter as opposed to an "official" source. Who are you going to believe first? Social media chatter or the WSJ/Bloomberg/CNBC/etc? If you say the latter, then you're proving my point.
