Hmm that would be interesting but Schwab doesn't take most Europeans either, except Germany, Switzerland and Belgium maybe
If they take Germans they should take any other Europeans that are in the EU. They are governt by the same EU capital market law/rules
I agree that would be the logical thing but unfortunately they don't. I'd be the first to sign up. https://international.schwab.com/open-account-intro
Just2trade will allow a foreigner residing in a foreign country to open an account with a passport and W-8 BEN Form. You don’t need SS or Tin number. You will likely have to list assets...give bank account in the country of residence...etc At least that is my understanding. https://www.daytrading.com/just2trade
Not sure what everyone is suggesting. The OP said the account needed to be a US one and it’s not possible for an illegal person residing in the US who does not possess an ssn.
I don't understand it either. But the fact is, that Schwab accepts clients from Germany, the UK, Spain and Switzerland and no other countries in Europe. I am struggling to understand why.
France, Portugal and Poland (assuming that are the countries you refer to) yield the same result: Your request to open an account cannot be processed Schwab currently cannot open accounts for residents of your country/region. Please check back with us in the future. Thank you for your interest in investing with Charles Schwab.
You are right, I just checked the drop down menu and it had the countries mentioned in my post above listed(software gore), if you klick on the countries it redirects you to the sorry... Etc page.
I phoned them too just to make sure and if I remember correctly she said only Uk/jersey, Germany, Switzerland and Belgium.
