It is a well known fact on ET that many of your opponents can even see you mental stops.

  2. No, what you are experiencing is called randomness. Traders who get stops run tend to blame it on MM's, specialists, floor traders, whoever. Very few people believe randomness exists in the markets and they lose consistently because of this view. The sooner traders accept this fact the sooner they are on their way to becoming a better trader. FWIW, I never, ever place a physical stop for the reasons you just stated. Money management is a better form of risk management.

  3. Yes, nearly everyone can see your order, and they can hypothesize that it is a stop order, but for all they know, the order is sitting there to open a new position.

The thing is, when you enter your position, most likely you are not entering at - or very near, the best possible entry.

As such, it is also probable that you are most likely not placing your stop at the best location.

    This guy: http://youtube.com/user/SnP500Trader
is going to have a lesson on stops this weekend - I have no idea what he will say but I am sure whatever it is, we will all find
it a lesson that is well worth the 8 or 9 minutes of our time.

    I recommend tuning in.

Well.. I didn't exactly expect so many ****HEADS at this site. As a REAL TRADER.. I certainly don't need to post my past, current or
or future performance to PROVE anything here to ANY of you.

For those of you with INTELLIGENT comments.. my appreciation.

Most likely I am going through a larger than expected period of drawdown. Thankfully, I have the capital to withstand it.

I wish all of you the best in your trading... except the ****heads!

  7. The answer is no, but most traders rarely use hard stops anyway...preferring to use alerts to check market conditions before closing a trade. Stops are designed more for those who cannot engage themselves in watching their positions intraday.

However, in the case of retail brokers, as mentioned previously.. they may hold the stop order in house (especially on equities), and that can be problematic, IMO.

  8. Then why do you start off with such an incredibly naive question? That is a mark of a newbie, whether you like it or not.

Most of those ****heads think you are more likely just starting to trade...
