I use OEC Trader to monitor my price alerts, and while it works nicely it requires the software to be on all the time. (a problem when the battery is running low) I was wondering if IB's software stores the price alerts on their end so an alert can be sent out without me needing my computer to be on all the time.
I'm not aware that IB has any capability to send communication to your e-mail about prices, executions, etc. I can't find it in the software documentation but would be interested to find out from someone else if they are aware of this feature.
this link better how to: http://institutions.interactivebrok...onitoring/assign_message_action_to_alerts.htm
Thanks for the info. I gave it a try and it works. I set up an alert at a price above market (for a currency) and shut down TWS. I then monitored the price on a chart and about 5 minutes later the alert price was reached. A few seconds later I received the requested e-mail.
Good to know. So were you connected to IB in any way to get that chart data (I know I have to connect to OEC trader to get chart data)
