Can I turn my portfolio into an ETF?

Discussion in 'ETFs' started by SoCalOptionsWriter, Aug 12, 2022.

  1. Lets say I have a $1M in a brokerage account and a decent record with an odd strategy. Could I create an ETF to track my performance? How much would it cost? How much could I make from it? Caveats? Hey, there are enough zany ideas out there attached to ETPs, why not give this a try? Might be cheaper that registering as a CT or RIA-run fund.

  3. No. Compliance will cost you a bundle. "Threshold to handle the regulatory requirements"... ~$50 Million... as told to me by the SEC.

A lot more than 1mm/year in just regulatory and legal fees.

  5. What about a closed-end fund? cheaper?

One may buy up a cheap public listed micro/nano stock. Like pink-sheets or what it is called and turn that company into mostly a trading/portfolio management business.

Market price for the stock should reflect to some degree what is available in the company treasury I guess.
