Really?? Wow. I guess they need their war machines to be in top shape, physically and mentally. Come to think that these men have been trained to deal with bullets, bombs and even enemy torture and yet they can get rattled by a little thin piece of divorce paper. Sorry to hear about your real estate venture.
Hmmm, can think of 3 really bad ones: Back in the late 90's, I bought 2K shares of EFII a day before earnings ~49. They warned the next day and it opened ~11. I doubled down and waited it out over the next year just to break even. Early 2000's... COCO was tanking and I bought 20K shares on apparently a fat-fingered error. Nasdaq halted the stock, so I sold everything on ARCA +6 points. Then Nasdaq decided they needed to cancel any trades in a 10-minute window, which meant my buys were void, leaving me net short. The stock opened at levels before its flash crash. I had to cover and lost 168K. Day of the London terrorist attack: futures are locked limit down around 5:30 am. I'm thinking is this all these bitches got? Bought all the Spoos and NQs I could... ended up over a mill for the day. EOD, I thought it ran too much and reversed position. Two days later: -$1.6 million. Bought 10K of DRYS after it tanked 99%. Lost 99% thereafter on subsequent reverse splits. There are a few more but never been happier. Regards, PTR
Ironically I was short calls that day- and the F closed down only 75 points- the market doesn't give a rat's ass for people dying. No-it was a period of the market going up solidly for over 2 years- like 2016/7 and then taking a hit -February my trade went a tiny bit underwater and I paid up for protection which was not needed but I did ok
Bought BSC (bear sterns company) in the mid $30s less than an hour before closing on Friday March 14th 2008. Woke up on Sunday to read that JPM agreed to buy BCS for $2 per share. Surprisingly the stock was trading at almost $4 on monday, and I sold there. 10 years later I discovered options and I get to relive that price action every week.
when I was a newbie trader, I sold naked put stock OTM option and collected meagre $50. 2 days later, I closed the position & lost $3000.
Conversely someone bought the put option at meagre $50. 2 days later, he sold it and he profitted massively by 60 times!!
