Can anyone point me to a place / room where people actively trade?

Starting a journal will better your odds of attracting the quality of folks you desire.

Rn, there isn’t much to go on as for your trading style and personality.

  2. You could check out the ES Journal or start your own journal.

I've posted quite a bit on the ES journal, both pre-market, on weekends and during a live market. Sharing my calls/predictions, trades, views and research freely.

Doing so, I've come in contact with quite a few people and some of them have wanted a collaboration with me trading together or invited me into their private room.

I have declined all of them so far for two reasons: 1) I have my own method/analysis which I fully trust. I don't want anyone elses opinion during market hours and I want to be fully focused on my trading; 2) I don't want to be tied up and have people expect me to participate in a room.

So, I rather post on that journal when I have time or wish to do so. But, truthfully, expressing my views on that journal can have negative effects as I think successful trading is best done with a neutral and flexible mind. As soon as you've expressed a view/opinion you can get attached to that and even want to defend it. So, I usually don't post trades any longer, but can give my thoughts for the day/week ahead.

In summary: If you start posting a bit here on that journal or make your own - you will come in contact with interesting people who you could start trading together with. Right now, you're a total stranger and it will be harder for you to get in touch with someone.

  4. Yeah, you make very valid points. I am not trying to come off as complaining or anything. Just genuinely surprised. I agree with not wanting to post trades in the room. Sometimes you can be in a trade and get a counter trigger and reverse the trade, or add to it or get stopped out and etc. Sometimes there wouldn't be enough time to post and if I posted a set top and set target, I'd feel obligated to follow it through like you said. To me the risk far outweighs the benefit.

It's not lost on me this is the same thing people are telling me, that voice benefit does not outweigh the risk for them. So, conceptually not lost here on anyone's points. I'll just continue to interact here some when I have the time or feel like that and if something comes out of it great, than if not it doesn't. I'll keep it simple.

Which platform using voice as the primary source of communication would you use if you were to find all the other pieces of the puzzle? This is an open question to OP and one and all.

Years ago we used skype. Probably better stuff out there now. 4 like minded traders day trading ES, watching the same chart trying to figure out what it was telling us. General bull shit between set-ups (lifestyles, politics, weather etc). Was a pleasant way to spend the day although I don't think we really learned anything. I think more than 4 or 5 would be too much

  7. Discord is an excellent voice and text platform and they even have a business model that could make them money from gamers

  10. I actually prefer skype, but these days people use discord more and that's where it's easier to find volume of people..... although volume doesn't matter that much, when like I said you can join a room with 20 even 1000+ people in some rooms, and still not find one quality person or at least none willing to engage.

Some people have legitimate reasons not to be on voice, like they prefer to trade alone or it truly distracts them. But a lot of people voice is extremely frightening, because your trading skill or lack there of will get exposed very quickly. Much easier just to post on text, where you can edit, use time delay, finagle your entry or exit and etc.
