Can a System be reverse engineered just from viewing daily trades/account statements?

...They would be risking a number of potential legal problems at the federal level - including perhaps RICO statutes. So, if they are doing this they are really stupid and the odds are that they will eventually go to jail.

I wouldn't worry about it if I were you .......

  2. From the original thread/question for a client of separately/individually managed accounts, do you think it's (legally) OK?

  3. very difficult from the statements alone.

However.....If the trader is part of a message board, has written some articles in trading magazines etc, any of which gives some insight into the thinking of the trader then it becomes possible if you trade only one system.

  4. Yes, I belive its possible.

You must first funnel down what it does not do...narrow it down...then narrow down more.....until you can get to a manageable amount of variables then run the combinations..

Here have fun with this password cracker to see the possibilities

  5. Hey Folks:
Of course it is possible. Just need the charts and the record of entries and exits. What else is there to say. Best Regards, Steve46

    Pointless question.

So yes... the guys in here are dumbasses...

I know the following statement is over 6 months old (didn't see it until someone bumped the thread), but that doesn't make in any less stupid.

As Steve46 says, give me the trade list and charts and reverse engineering ain't that tough (or illegal).

  8. charts ?

Just the trades and prices for the period are sufficient. Don't need charts. Just plonk the trades next to the prices in a file and then within a short timeframe a neural network will have a workable system. Only thing to figure out would be the timeframe / tickcharts used but that is easily detected from the timestamps of the orders.

    bali,

You mean if I pick 14 trades that are profitable, a system could be engineered to pick 14 more?
