I trade Camarilla points exactly as described in at the Members area of the web site, trading around the H3 and L3 levels and trading the breakouts above H4 and breakdowns below L4. I take quick profits, really quick. They're small, but they add up. It could be that I could trade that way around any randomly generated pivot points and do as well, maybe even better, thus invalidating any genuine advantage Camarilla provides. Maybe some day I'll give that technique a try, but for now, I'll go with Camarilla.
Which website are you talking about? There are two websites circulating on this thread, depends on how you view the word "original", please post the link. Thanks!
If the method for obtaining the Profit Potential as stated were realistically achievable in actual profits, that would be a successful product or service in of itself. It is by no mistake that it lists only the MFE in their results and have no mechanicaly tested approach inside. It may be of some help for the discretionary trader but without proper backtesting of the rules and conditions as stated in their user guide, there's little confidence given to expectation.
I find your comments here very interesting. I see what I think the medical profession would call something like a psycho-placebo effect (not sure the exact term). What I mean is that the camarilla pivots give you the confidence to trade intuitively and successfully at certain price levels and without them you would not be as mentally relaxed and good at trading at those levels even though it is possible that you could trade as well at any level if your mind was tricked into believe that the relevant level was an H3/L3 level. It sounds like you're being successful with your current technique so pleased don't experiment with your or my suggestions because if you're making money with your current method then stick to it and don't mess with the winning formula. You state that you scalp around H3/L3 and then also play the breakout of H4/L4. Do you scalp the breakout of H4/L4 or try and run it for more points that a scalp? Thanks for your comments.
I think I alluded to that possibility in my first post here, the pivots may not be the reason for my success, the direct reason anyway. Yes, I let the H4 and L4 breakouts more room to run.
Interesting blog. I left you a question there but I'll repeat it here: What software did you use to do your back tests with?
