These are great ideas and will never happen to any meaningful degree. In fact, the exact opposite is going to happen. No one in their right mind is going to want a career in law enforcement. Risk your life, your livelihood, your freedom, having every move you make under the ever watching eye of social media? Not a chance in hell. No, what we will see is more corrupt, more criminal types, more of those who can be bought. Think Mexico. That is the future of policing in America.
That's the liberal way. Protest against police brutality in a country overrun by drug cartels who are known overwhelmingly for their not-so-brutal tactics of sending their enemies chocolates and flowers.
Agree with most except that unarmed police are a weakness but you need to be immersed in the culture to appreciate that perhaps. The number of successful terrorist incidents is actually very small, the number of robberies where overwhelming armed force was used by criminals likewise and when you balance that with the low deaths by police, crime or suicides (always much higher with guns).. Remember that European countries are directly attached to the Middle East and Africa and have the fallout of America stirring the hornet's nest largely for the benefit of it's industrial military complex for sixty years. If European countries were responsible for stirring violence in Mexico is a way to look at it? Be nice to have an ocean between but Europe is up close and personal with the wars in a way the US an only begin to grasp through Mexico. Anyway, there is another factor and it comes to who is the right person to have a gun in defence of the public, personally I feel this is like trading with leverage and like war, really only a few percent of men are the best man for the job day in, day out for years. This is why selection (and you must volunteer) for armed police in the UK is a high-bar.
13 - 19 weeks on average to go out in the world as an armed uniformed officer with the rights to unilaterally decide when to violate people's rights or end their life as well as facing violent situations. Not enough time at all.. FBI academy is 20 weeks minimum and most of them are investigating non-violent crime but get high level training..
For example...here is where training is lacking: In the video a Salem police officer tells the armed group to get off the sidewalks before police start enforcing the curfew. He said they needed to leave the sidewalk but could be inside a business or inside their vehicles so “it doesn’t look like we are playing favorites.” Just to be clear, if you were inside the business (which would have been closed at that time, or sitting in your car, on the streets to be cleared you were still violating curfew... https://www.usnews.com/news/best-st...hief-apologizes-after-video-sparks-complaints https://www.oregonlive.com/nation/2...ideo-of-officer-with-armed-group-emerges.html This week Salem Police Chief Jerry Moore said in a video address to citizens that this was the first time a curfew has been instituted in the city. As for the video, Moore said he understands that some people feel authorities were holding certain groups to different standards. “For that I tell you I am sorry,” Moore said, adding that the officer had not been “fully briefed” in how to enforce curfews during the demonstrations. Moore said that in the future all police who enforce curfews will be fully briefed before going on patrol. “We understand the feelings of fear that large groups of people openly carrying firearms in our city can create,” the chief said. “Though they gather under the guise of protecting the city, that is our responsibility, not theirs.”
Tony Stark said that these were "Proud Boy" white supremacists and that the police were showing favorites to White Supremacist groups in this video. https://www.elitetrader.com/et/threads/magatards-kill-another-black-man.345298/page-22#post-5119289 Sounded like horseshit then, and sounds like it now. Your explanation is more in line with what probably happened.
Unless tony Stark is Mayor of Salem or Chief of Police ...not sure why that matters what he says? Point was they were armed on the streets and being told to stay out with the curfew but just hide better while the rest of the protestors were going to be pushed out and told to go home.
It doesn't matter unless you're talking about the narrative Tony pushes, which is the narrative the democrats continue to push. If we're going to find common ground, we have to stop with the bullshit.
Why should I comment or be concerned about some narrative that some ET poster is pushing? That is like me answering you by quoting what someone else said or thinks and not you.
