We need more police not less, especially in the inner cities where thugs run wild. Those thugs need to be kept in line and they need to understand there will be severe consequences for their violent actions and I know the way to do it.
Democrats must abandon endless assault on police As violent crime surges across the country, most notably in Democrat-run cities, it is disturbing that liberal and progressive lawmakers do not take responsibility for how their extreme policies have crippled police departments and allowed violent criminals to run rampant throughout our streets. In many cities, law enforcement officers no longer feel supported, or able to safely protect their communities. In addition to the everyday sacrifices law enforcement officers make, this lack of proper funding and support means many officers will be less likely to continue to serve in law enforcement. According to a survey from the Police Executive Research Forum, police departments have seen a 45% increase in retirements. In addition, there have been nearly 20% more resignations from officers in 2020-2021 compared to the previous year. These are alarming numbers.
Covid. If you are near retirement age and saw your colleagues dying, retirement probably seems like a good idea. Numbers are dropping as would be expected. One of my two FBI cousins was severely pressured by his wife to retire over concerns for his well being. He stayed in but it was close. Anyway how can violent crime surge with the best gun sales ever. Fox news, better check yourself
New FBI Data Proves ‘Defund the Police’ was a Deadly Mistake Unsurprisingly, the FBI’s newly released 2020 Uniform Crime Report has thoroughly destroyed this lie and proven that the Defund the Police push was perhaps the most disastrous effort that local governments have ever undertaken. Aggravated assaults in America rose by an estimated 12.4 percent, while the murder rate increased by a staggering 29.4 percent—the single largest year-over-year increase on record. Interestingly, violent crimes did not peak in March, April, and May (the months in which most of America was actually locked down), but rather in the summer—after the death of George Floyd and subsequent nationwide move against policing in many major liberal cities. In Milwaukee, which set an all-time record with 189 homicides (smashing the prior record set in 1991 by a full 14 percent), the corrupt and dysfunctional Fire and Police Commission voted to fire the effective law-and-order police chief, Alfonso Morales. A month later, Milwaukee’s aloof and incompetent mayor, Tom Barrett, proposed cutting 120 police officer positions from his 2021 city budget. The predictable lawlessness on the streets drove a staggering 70.5 percent increase in Wisconsin’s homicide rate from 2019 to 2020. In 2020, just 7 percent of the murders were of spouses or significant others, while just 20 percent were domestic in nature (spouses, siblings, parents, children, etc.). A full 80.5 percent of the victims had an unknown relationship to their killer or were acquaintances or strangers, indicating that the murders arose not because of tight living quarters during COVID lockdown, but rather because of drug or gang activity or arguments between people who are prone to violence and/or have extensive criminal records.
Violent crime and homicide were rising rapidly before anyone said anything about defunding. The general populace probably thought, if Tramp can get away with it, why can't I?
Yeah, many countries experienced a major drop in non-domestic violent crime during lockdown followed by an odd lul and then a large jump. Arguable but in Colombia it seemed to take a while for gangs to go at each others throats again. Possibly there was a rise in poor community solidarity during lockdown and this took a while to revert. Just one theory I've heard. Who knows. Due to the massive global upheaval if anyone is saying x was because of y in 2020, they are probably stupid or selling something.
Defunding the Police is one of the stupidest things that has ever happened in the history of the world.
